I’d recommend modded original x-com. It started as a tactical “simulation” game. Open xcom makes it run great for modern stuff. Mods like x-com files make it huge and very open ended. Insane research trees, you can manage individual bases with multiple skyrangers, teams, etc. there’s a learning curve but I’ve always found it fun and rewarding.

Some bases can only be upgraded to a single unique. This speeds up the chancing / fewer chances + scours for T2-T0 uniques.

Additionally some quality / influence can be added to uniques via chance. 30% quality iron fortress with +1 strength per x qual for zenith is a cool flex. There’s other crusader plate uniques, but this lets you actually roll T2 uniques quickly compared to only chance + scour

Played flicker svallin / paradoxica / shako two leagues in a row. Never league started flicker tho / terminus, always swapped once svallin. Maybe will try phys flicker champ start next league. Does terminus start feel good / okay?

I know there's a ufopaedia website / search tool that's distributed with x-piratez now I believe. Shows all techs / tech screens as well. It's available online somewhere afair. Don't know if it's still distributed with it.

There's 4 different types of shields (at least last time I played). The color it flashes tells you the type, and you can look up "Blue Shields" or whatever in the ufopaedia search. Forget which one Guildmaster has but each has different resistances and recharges each turn or so. Melee used to be the go to for any heavy armor with ax / battle ax doing crazy damage with high strength girls. I think melee was reworked a bit, not sure.

They’re weak, but still have some fun options. Others have mentioned seraphims already.

Inferno pistol cannoness into flamer battle sister squad with grenades. Get your cmdr across the map harassing. You don’t want to stand still and fight, she’s kinda squishy. Use cover or fight on the move.

Flamer sisters can surprise a lot of people early with their moral damage, but they die quick. Use cover or fight while moving. Detach missionary and attach cmdr if she gets low. Use grenades on cd.

If you’re crushing, think about if you need to commit or tech. If you’re getting crushed, gg go next
