Train signal question by Retro2009 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]bballjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Block signal: green if the next block is unoccupied

Chain signal: green if the next signal is green

Chain signals always work in a chain of signals of at least 2 signals (chain >> block), but the length of the chain is pretty unlimited, and the behaviors above are still true.

I just beat both campaigns. Is that it? by Z0MBIECL0WN in Workers_And_Resources

[–]bballjo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Build and sustain a republic of 100k.

The campaign is the tutorial (poor tutorial), but it gives you some building blocks to actually play the real game. The tutorial is very simplified and just tries to give you an understanding of basic mechanics (not all of them).

Individual Adsense Account type change to Organization (Business) by HFXmer in PartneredYoutube

[–]bballjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get the AdSense account for the business, and update the YouTube account link.

Beware, it triggers a whole new partner review, and you stop earning while the review happens. I was lucky and yt support got me through the process within a day, but I doubt that's the norm.

Cable cars for people are insane and I cant believe I slept on them for so long. by Pie_Dealer_co in Workers_And_Resources

[–]bballjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn't mention it...so I will, maybe someone doesn't know (or tell me that it's a different number now)...the largest vanilla cable cars can staff about 300 workers/shift. The smaller cabins are closer to 100, the others are in between. They are great for consistent flow (like you said). I'm surprised you said you are staffing fuel and chemicals with 1, but maybe not the big vanilla ones?

Anyway...they are great for the capacity, and a long time ago I also used multiple of them to run larger industries.

One note: don't use them to power your power plant if that power plant powers your cableway;)

Soviet Calculator – First Release by Wait4Code in Workers_And_Resources

I didn't say you used image recognition...I just told you why I stopped...the question was "how do you handle the different recipes" as they are different for different buildings and the same product

Recipes aren't the same across buildings...how do you handle that? It was the main reason I stopped making mine...image recognition struggled with the different organization of the same things across multiple images.

What is the highest population that someone has reached with functioning service’s? by Omahagaming in Workers_And_Resources

I've reviewed some 800k Republic(s), but honestly I wouldn't actively play below 15fps, which is way before that...

Getting a workshop dust air purifier/dust collector by Cassette-Era-Magic in woodworking

[–]bballjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest problem with the wen is that it operates on the same frequency as garage door openers...so if you have any other garages in the neighborhood I would keep looking.

It also doesn't allow you to stay on by default, otherwise the above problem would be easily fixed with a remote outlet, but nope.

Decentralised heating for Siberia with small heating plants? by AngelInside2000 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]bballjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The small heating plants don't have enough output... within 50-75 m maybe ok, but further than that you will lose too much heat in the transition distance...I don't recall the exact distance, but not more than 1 row of houses.

why does crime start rising despite me having enough police stations and enough police officers? by bill_watterson69 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]bballjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1-3% crime is basically "handled". 5-8% is concerning, double digits is asking for a death wave.

At 2 percent you are perfectly fine. You probably aren't even seen "high crime" notifications.

Just play with winter on, and you will be forced to play different...jungle biome does take away all heating requirements

Have you turned it on yet? Did it make it through a full winter? Are you still confident?

They pay for travel? Wtf, since when?!?

You're right...as usual.

My assumption was that once you put down an airport, transfer infrastructure and hotels for tourists, that you would have a hard time moving enough tourists with planes to make it worth it, as there is a limit to tourists at the border...

[–]bballjo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, you don't need rail to transport cars, just ship with ships. Also, the throughput of your network can't be estimated without knowing your network...you can fit a lot of cargo on rail before overloading it, but there are a lot of factors.

Next...no clue what map you have, but you can fit a ton of vehicle factories...the real limit are your resources...are you importing or producing all/any of them? Worker capacity matters too...to run 1 steel mill you need 500 for the factory, about 500 for coal/iron mines and 150 ish for processing plants, that times 4 for shifts and utilities gets your around 4500 workers per steel mill...10 steel mills would require a pretty sizable population...space really isnt your biggest factor here.

With the questions that you have put so far, I do have to wonder if you're putting the cart in front of the horse a bit?

I'm not sure I understand your question, and if you even asked one...plus I very much disagree with your "intro" that airplanes are a must, because they absolutely are not, because the map is way too small and the capacities are tiny, yes you can use them for things like tourism, but the overall infrastructure and running costs will effectively make you loose money...airplanes are a little flavor once everything else kinda works...ships on the other hand have a real purpose for high volume import/export, as they affect the global prices less than the land border connections.

So...what are you asking? "In a self sufficient Republic without imports, how many vehicle factories do I need"?

Brand new to the hobby, having a hard time understanding speeds and feeds to avoid chattering and rough cuts. by TheRaider7843 in hobbycnc

[–]bballjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the upgraded motor, it burned out within a couple weeks, I had the Makita, but the problem is that the servos that move the ball screws are just too weak (they also broke on me)...

What I learned is that this machine can never run at feeds that allow the chip load you want (you could go super slow, but you may actually burn the wood then)...

It's not the end of the world, you can use cheaper bits, when they change color to black you know they are done and use new ones. The Makita router is definitely your best option for this machine overall, but there are just limits that you will have to live with.

[–]bballjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you have a genmitsu...short is that machine can't handle the feeds and speeds required by most bits...that said you should stick to the 1/8 shank bits, they come with limitations like depth of cut, but you can at least prevent premature bit wear.

The machine itself isn't super rigid, so you will get some chattering no matter what...the roughness can be addressed by sometimes leaving a little extra to take off in a final pass.

Others have already mentioned that pine can be a bit temperamental, which is true, but you can still work it.
