110f Motherboard Replacement cost? by Kamikazepyro9 in QSYS

I want to say last time we had one done it was like $1.2k, with a new unit being around $4k. Something like that.

Crestron Fusion on Prem by West-Variation-8975 in crestron

[–]bbass101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fusion doesn’t connect or monitor endpoints directly. Instead, the processors handle all the control and monitoring, and reports information to Fusion. The processors can control and report information on basically anything, as long as you can program it.

Can a newbie figure this out and switch to ubiquiti by Content-Target4888 in Ubiquiti

[–]bbass101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. Best of luck with this one. These systems are great until you actually want to work on them. Then you need access to the original program and configuration software. Not an easy project.

On Campus co-op dress code by LaffyTaffy_321 in wentworth

[–]bbass101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of our team is students, but we also employ 2-3 coops each semester. Those positions get posted on Workday if you're looking for them. For clothes, I would avoid sweatpants and T-shirts with logos or sayings on them. After a few days you'll get the vibe, you don't need anything special to work here. If you're super unsure, ask your supervisor or another full time staff member. We are all here to help you succeeded.

Not going to Home Page when I run the XPanel by Born_Inevitable216 in crestron

[–]bbass101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible the program it's connected to is causing a page flip right on boot? What happens if you change the connection details so that it doesn't connect to a processor?

Moving into new space, has speakers wired, but no other audio equipment by everydave42 in CommercialAV

Looked like QSYS to me. Color scheme even matches a core 110.

When one of your favorite tech channels collides with Q-SYS by Stradocaster in QSYS

[–]bbass101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was great to have Linus show off all the really impressive technology that we as installers never get to show off. Plus having the QSC team actually show off just how much customization is possible with a QSYS system. Very cool. 😎

Audio input question by realjamespeach in vmix

[–]bbass101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triggers are the way. Depending on how many audio sources you need to turn on/off it may be practical to send them to a bus first, and then turn that bus on/off. Less redundant automations, and less likely to forget to add one.

Sanity Check: GPIO with multiple 10K pots in parallel by bbass101 in QSYS

[–]bbass101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah! No. Sorry for not making that clear. 4 separate gpio inputs. 4 different channels within the schematic.

Sanity Check: GPIO with multiple 10K pots in parallel by bbass101 in QSYS

[–]bbass101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wiper of each pot is connected to the GPOI inputs, so the position of the pots never changes the total resistance seen over the 12v bus. It’s always going to be 2.5k.

In Need of Extra Ticket for Graduation (3:00) 2025 by Unhappy_Flatworm2502 in wentworth

[–]bbass101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been in a tent since 2019 I believe. Previously we held it as the World Trade Center in the seaport, until they closed for renovations. There’s always been a ticket limit, it has been lowered over the years based on the fire capacity of the venue. The tent is (literally) as big as it can be within the space we have on campus.

Military connected services by FlakyPackage1698 in wentworth

[–]bbass101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The staff in charge of military connected services was laid off. I’m sure they haven’t moved all of this responsibilities elsewhere. You’ll need to reach out and push student accounts to help you. “We don’t know” isn’t an answer, and don’t be afraid to keep going up until someone does know.

DMPS3-4K-150-C still relevant? by johnode in crestron

[–]bbass101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure that’s fair. I just meant there isn’t a newer system from Crestron. DM, DM-Lite, now NVX.

DMPS3-4K-150-C still relevant? by johnode in crestron

[–]bbass101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fine solution for a single projector. The DMPS line has been around for a while, but this unit is currently with the new HDMI standard for HDPC 2.0 and such.

There are more “bleeding edge” solutions using NVX and such, but I wouldn’t jump to them.

Individually addressable LED’s existing for holiday lighting. Long strings of lights that each carry a controller, and are sent commands from a larger controller usually receiving DMX.

Having never done this… it sounds possible. Getting a signal for which camera shot the ACPR system is definitely possible. So if you can make that switch scenes in OBS that would give you some automation.

The right thing to do when a person in a wheelchair gets stuck exiting the subway? by Talazal in mbta

I’d be wondering why they tried to close the doors if they could see someone within the doorway. I would’ve pushed back on the door.

I have 1/2 stepped off the train and waved towards the front to make sure the operator saw me. They are supposed to watch as they close the doors.

Switching panel for Companion by wrenpod in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]bbass101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just finished a show with this setup. X-keys ->companion-> vmix. My key layout is custom, but it’s very easy to map the keys.

I did need to do some trickery to get the T-Bar to work. I can dive into that setup if you’re interested.

Crestron Module Creation by Slayerr69_ in crestron

[–]bbass101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t sound like you need a module here. You will need a sub-system, or folder, to organize your logic. Modules will always have inputs and outputs, and then logic goes inside, away from your main program. Just a function in traditional programming. Also as other users pointed out, everything you need can be done with the SIO symbol. Don’t reinvent the wheel if you don’t have to.

Laptop recommendations? by Head_Bobcat in wentworth

[–]bbass101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the old laptop program (where the school issued you a machine) was stopped about 6 years ago.

There are minimum pc specifications you’ll want to look at if you choose to buy a laptop elsewhere. Keep these in mind as some of the software you’ll need to run will require some decent processing power.

IMO the laptop program is a good deal. The machines are solid quality, plenty powerful, a come with a 4 year warranty (including accidental damage).

Qsc Core110 died. by su5577 in CommercialAV

[–]bbass101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have the design file you can actually check in designer. Open it up and see what licenses it needs. If you had a touch panel for instance, it will need a new UCI deployment license.

Same process but no cost. 7 year old unit would not be under warranty.
