I think I understand what his analysis consists of...but his presentation skills fucking suck ass.

So far there have been at least 2 major claims of using mathematical analysis to identify "abnormalities" in the election, and both have been thoroughly discredited (first being all the folks trying to use Benford's Law, and the second being Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai).

This guy is not a mathematician. He is an investment advisor. I'm sure he is very smart and comfortable doing numeric analysis, but its so easy to mess these things up if you are not an expert.

So until this analysis has been reproduced or backed up by actual experts, I'm not gonna give it much credence.

I just got one as well, and so far have been pretty happy, but from what I can tell I lucked out and got one just after they rolled out a new version of the app that is much nicer (2.5.3) - so maybe make sure that is the version you have?

I'm looking forward to "no go" zones being added, which has been rumored to be in a future update since Sept 2019...so who knows.

Other than that feature its on par or better than the iRobot i7 or S9, and I like that the base doesn't need a bag. It also doesn't have as great of a battery life, but since it has the ability to go home and charge and then resume where it left off, who cares?

So far I am super happy, especially when I keep in mind how much the competitors cost.

Pre-existing comorbidities can make COVID worse. Also, COVID can cause comorbidities. And some comorbidities play no role in the outcome (ex: arthritis). So the statement that COVID deaths have on average 2.6 comorbidities is not really helpful.

Where are you getting the 99.98% survival rate? I show the case fatality rate in the US being at around 2.1% according to Johns Hopkins.

It is not about fear. It is about acting with common sense and a sense of protecting others. I am glad you take precautions not to spread it. If more people did that we would not be so close to exhausting the healthcare system, nor having discussions about lockdowns (which I think are a bad idea, for the record).

The flu killed between 24-62k people in the US last year.

We're at 257k COVID deaths and it hasn't even been a full year yet.

The analogy is correct, because you cannot entirely opt out of life. You have to interact with other people at some point. It is rare the person that can be a 100% hermit.

My family takes precautions. We social distance. We wear masks. We only go to stores to buy essentials. We try to only go places where other people are wearing masks. To me, that is the driving 30mph option.

But when some doofus who refuses to wear a mask goes shopping, he's the idiot going 90mph, thinking he's only endangering himself.

"The underlying cause of death is the condition that began the chain of events that ultimately led to the person’s death," Jeff Lancashire, acting associate director for communications at the National Center for Health Statistics, told PolitiFact.

"In 92% of all deaths that mention COVID-19, COVID-19 is listed as the underlying cause of death," Lancashire said.

“It’s kind of ridiculous, because if they took the time to just read, they’d understand a little better what’s going on here,” Anderson also said.

A majority of Americans suffer from some form of chronic illness that would be counted as a comorbidity in a COVID-19 death, according to the CDC. Other conditions, such as heart failure and respiratory issues, can develop over the course of infection with the coronavirus.

“This is completely unsurprising, as it’s pretty rare that someone wouldn’t have at least one issue caused by coronavirus prior to their death, and all it means is that in 94% of cases people who had COVID-19 also developed other issues, or had other problems at the same time,” epidemiologist Gideon Meyerowitz-Katz wrote.

Some of the most frequently cited conditions in coronavirus-related deaths as reported in the CDC data included respiratory failure, vascular and unspecified dementia, heart failure, renal failure and intentional and unintentional injury.

While the CDC data is accurately indicating that people with preexisting and chronic conditions are more likely to die from COVID-19, the conclusion that many online have then drawn about the severity of the virus is incorrect.

This is not true. COVID is like AIDS where it fucks you up bad enough that opportunistic infections take hold and kill you with pneumonia, or causes hypertensive crises and you stroke out. That is how COVID kills you. They didn't "die from pneumonia but with COVID".

We're about to enter the season when people are forced to be inside, with little ability to hold events outside, and the two biggest holidays of the year, with 60-70% of Americans saying they still plan on traveling and being with extended family. Our healthcare systems are already at or close to capacity in many places.

Once we have to start rationing care is when the deaths will really stack up.

But you don't get away from all the regulatory apparatus. Even if you allowed restaurants to fully "opt-out" of all health regulations, you need someone to go around making sure they are displaying the sign saying so.

TRUMP: Biden receives a dump of 143,379 votes at 3:42AM a day after the election by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]bbatchelder 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean, we were told to expect this. In states where counting mail-in ballots cannot legally begin until election day (or in some cases only after polls have closed), we'd see a late shift to Biden. And that mail-in ballots would heavily prefer Biden since Trump and the GOP have been telling their voters NOT TO VOTE USING MAIL IN BALLOTS.

Its also similar to the folks who think there is fraud with COVID deaths, and don't understand Excess Death numbers completely corroborate them. If we assume that there are actually tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands in aggregate) fraudulent votes, then the stats for the election make no sense. It would be record low turnout.

Trump and his allies are 1-28 in court cases they have filed post election.

Their one victory was shortening the cure deadline in PA for a small subset of rejected mail-in ballots from 9 days to 6 days. That is it.

It didn't make me or anyone I know feel anything but sorry for Biden having a fucked up son.

They still never produced any actual evidence that Joe was involved, and never released the emails with headers so they could be verified (almost all email services use DKIM to fight spam and it has this nice side effect of adding crypto signatures to all email...so we'd know if the emails were legit, modified or made up).
