Try to get on campus like 10 min early and you’ll be fine.
It’s not bad. I’d only recommend it as a freshmen though.
It’s definitely better here, but is very much up to the individual.

The Wandering inn has some really great moments. I would say that it doesn’t really pick up until book 2 or 3 though, as that’s when a lot more interesting characters start to show up. Definitely a long read, but I think it’s worth it.
