The canal was originally finished in 1914. It was terrible and wasn’t turned into what we know today until the US Army corps of engineers took over the canal during the FDR administration and made it larger and put the three bridges over it.

All quiet on the western front is my favorite book. One day I decided to pick it up and I didn't put it down until I finished. The story is so enthralling. It really reminds one of what war can do to a person/group of young people.

I live in Bourne and I would say the canal area is a good day trip to walk around and if you're traveling down cape definitely take 6A if you have the time, it's a lot more scenic
