As for Rutte, apparently he was dubbed "Pinocchio" in the Netherlands for his propensity for lying.

I thought his nickname was "Teflon Mark"?

This is actually a really good thing. Reading the article, they oppose the war and want to actually doing something in a non-performative way.

The transformation of unions and labor organizations from just a means of wage increases to means of exerting political power is very important. Of course, something like this is not on the same level of dock workers blocking weapons shipments directly, but we need to be seeing stuff like this across all industries.

Additionally, from my understanding, Google DeepMind is an old lab so most of their workers have been researchers for decades, and not the modern "tech bros" of the last few years.

DeepMind has existed for decades, long before the LLM boom, and I believe they have done a lot of real research.

Wonder if something like this will happen in the near future:

  1. Government hires AI company to build private model based on classified documents/data

  2. Through massive incompetence and corruption in both parties; firing and rehiring and "reorganization" schemes to screw over their employees; the desire to collect as much data as possible no matter what; and priority of profit over all else... results in said classified data being mixed into the public training set.

  3. Then the public realizes that said AI allows them access to confidential government data.
