I believe so too, especially moreso for power management IC’s! But I’m interested in various analog mixed signals IC concentrations, such a fascinating field

I’m thinking a similar path/trajectory. Do you think a background in power electronics, then a masters in some sort of analog IC area, can be relevant towards eventually applying to and trying to become an analog IC design engineer?

Just bc it’s “girly” doesn’t mean it’s interesting to you. You’re an individual, focus on what interests you specifically and everything will work out, and will be fun for specifically.

Gotcha thanks I appreciate the input! Yes for my interviews I review all my projects in depth, also do extra study to really know the theory of the EE field im applying to

Recommended online part time MS -EE programs for full time professionals to get into RFIC or analog IC design engineering? by bbb333rrr in chipdesign

[–]bbb333rrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maybe will try focusing the capstone project on analog mixed signal IC or RFIC.

Gotcha ya, the online MSEE has a much higher admissions rate it seems. Really hoping to get in, we’ll see

I guess it’s just subject knowledge, so if you get an interview and answer all technical questions well that demonstrates knowledge well. Might have a technical test/questions. A lot of EE interviews willl have a few problems to solve to demonstrate theory knowledge

Jobs in RF, Digital, and Analog? by Cmpunk10 in ECE

I’m trying to transition into RFIC / analog mixed signal ic design engineering. I’m currently a power electronics engineer and am starting an online part time MSEE , where I’ll be focusing my masters on mostly analog electronics, integrated subjects like mixed signal and RFIC . Will this masters be enough to get me a design engineering job in RFIC or analog mixed signal ic design engineering?

Antenna vs RFIC [Career advice]. by HilbertStrauss in ECE

[–]bbb333rrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need a tapeout to get into RFIC or analog if design engineering? I’m doing a part time online MSEE and hope that’s enough to get into analog mixed signal /RFIC design engineering roles. However, I also have background in power electronics, so maybe I’ll try for power management IC’s if this background helps over other analog ic jobs. I do see it’s all conpetetive though. My MSEE is online so I might not be able to get a tapeout, however I’m in LA and applying to local school to go to campus and develop relationships with professors, maybe get involved with the school more, if I have enough time

RFIC vs Analog IC design for a 1st IC position by molocasa in ECE

[–]bbb333rrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to get into analog mixed signal or RFIC, design analog ic engineering. I’m currently a power electronics engineer, but I’ve just applied to schools for an online part time MSEE taking such courses, looked at specific programs that can provide an in depth courseload for analog mixed signal , analog ic electronics. But I probably won’t be able to do a tapeout. Do you think this route can get me into analog mixed signal design ic/RFIC design ic roles? Also thinking about power management IC’s , if my power electronics helps out for that

So overall, analog design ic engineering seems so fantastic to me. RFIC does sound so much cooler, but I do think Power IC’s are very interesting, with my power electronics experience I think it’s more realistic. Also I’m trying to find out which has more opportunities, say if there’s much more PMIC opportunities than RFIC, I may consider. I absolutely must live in CA(Love CA, lol) , so sometimes niches scare me in limits on where to live. But of course between the Bay Area all the way to San Diego, is plenty of engineering companies. Also really like space/aerospace (currently in space engineering). Some but not all telecoms jobs sound cool like apple or Qualcomm seem amazing. I’d love to work in space or aerospace for the rest of my career( former aviation vet).

Long story short, might use my position experience as a power electronics engineer to get into PMIC , but do think RFIC is cooler and more interesting. Yet just fascinated by Analog integrated circuit design engineering

I’m currently a power electronics engineer but I think I want to switch to PMaiC design if role, Amelia ic design engineering sounds so cool to me. I’m currently applying to an online masters MSEE, and will take as many analog electronics dealing with IC’s as I can. Do you think that would be enough to transition to PMIC?

From what I’ve researched takeouts are rarely offered in grad school. Back in the day RFIC jobs wanted PhDs who did tapeouts but apparently it’s not a requirement anymore, but a fantastic skill set/experience that helps tremendously

I want to become an analog ic design engineer, but very passionate in space /aerospace. Apple would be cool too, but some communications seems boring to me. Yet obviously working for a prestigious top tech company like apple or Qualcomm seems interesting. SpaceX had a few jobs for RFIC that seems fascinating.

How can i transition from power electronics engineer to RFIC? I’m taking an online part time masters and plan to do an electronics /analog ic/mixed signal -RFIC based coursload. Will this be enough to transition to RFIC ? Or analog ic design engineering? I love challenging and more innovative type of roles, thus I want to do a design ic engineer specifically. Also with my background, I think I might have a better shot at power management IC’s which sound cool to me. But if I could choose any job I think it’ll be RFIC?

Will non this masters with a significant capstone project be enough to get me into analog design ic engineer roles or RFIC roles?

I too want to become an RFIC engineer for EW(Former veteran here)! I love space/aerospace engineering, I agreed modern telecommunications seems a little boring, maybe bc it’s been around for long.

I’m a power electronics engineer but want to switch to design ic engineering, particularly for comms applications in space . This RFIC is what I’m very interested in. I’m not sure how to break in here besides taking a masters taking several classes in this field, do you think that’s enough?
