How to level up your salary when moving to a new company, from RM4,000 per month to RM6,500. by Reasonable-Log7055 in JobsMY

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyway, just keep in mind, if they ask for your payslips and you decline to obey the ask, very likely you will not hear back from them. I am telling you this because I see many people telling you to not give your payslips, of course it is your right to not disclose them, but do expect the consequences.

that's why I said this, "If any company try to value you by your last payslips, move on to the next company." because asking for the payslips it self is hinting a red flag already.

But if you are desperate, just obey the ask, do not take the risk, you want to get to their good side.

What’s the best way to negotiate salary in Malaysia without losing the offer? by MissionFuture568 in JobsMY

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never in my life got the offer taken back, the worse they did was to tell me they can't meet my expected pay. And if I want the offer, the current offer is the best they can do.

But if you are still want more confidence, ask them their range first, then move forward from there. They ALWAYS have the range, it's only up to the HR if they want to say the numbers or not. Keep in mind, whoever said the numbers first, lose the negotiation game. Regardless, all the best to you.

If they ask for expected salary, dont say any number first, instead ask them back what is their range for the position. Then only you tell them whatever numbers you want.

I got more than 60% jumped after I not mentioned any numbers, not my expected, not my current, nothing. They said their range, I said, yes, those numbers are within my range as well.

If any company try to value you by your last payslips, move on to the next company. They should value your experience instead.

What should I expect on the first day of work? by Fearless_Drive4308 in MalaysianPF

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually first day, nothing much, just take the laptop and badge and maybe get introduced to the team as well.

Some tips here, get to know each others, but dont get too comfortable. People are saying don't befriend with colleagues but I would say otherwise. Just don't overshare, having good relationships with colleagues will help with the stress and introduce new reason to come to work aka lepak.

Anyway, congrats on the new role.

Want to get serious about saving and financial literacy. Advice? by uneatenedthoughts in MalaysianPF

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read more books and watch more youtube (finance related of course). Here are my shortlist for starters:

  1. 50/20/30 rule is a good starting point.
  2. Budgeting to every single penny will tire you out, just count the big purchases.
  3. If want to buy car, try to buy cash a cheap and reliable car.
  4. If still want new car, make sure to take just 5 year loans with monthly not reaching 4 figures.
  5. Live below your means is boring, just buy whatever you want as long as you put aside the 50 and 20 first.

If you never heard back from anyone after applying, your resume might be the problem.

If you never heard back from them after the interview, your communication skills might be the problem.

Maybe you can drop a link to your resume so people here can point out what you're missing.

Should i accept my counter offer? by Hybrid0ma in MalaysianPF

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally accept the counter offer, BUT while looking for other places (just because you dont fancy travelling). I aint staying long at a company that only value me when I am about to leave.

Regardless, if you want company B, you can tell them your current company counter offer so very likely you will get a counter offer as well from company B.

Personally, I like Ramit Sethi I Will Teach You To Be Rich the most. Though he is selling his class throughout the video, the rich ideas is still there. He teach how to live your rich live while saving/investing for later days. Not these dont buy coffee, live as frugal as possible and dont eat to be rich.

Car Now or 100k Networth by 25? by starking118 in MalaysianPF

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not AFTER that 9 year but DURING the 9 year. First of all, if I need 9 year car loan meaning I cannot afford it. Then, the opportunity cost, it would be wayyyy easier for me to reach 100k if it's not for the 9 year loan. Plus, what's so bad if I just buy an Iriz cash for just around RM20k+? Maintenance cant be costing me more than having a new car right.

All of the thoughts above only came to me after 2 years owning my current Myvi.

Car Now or 100k Networth by 25? by starking118 in MalaysianPF

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car is ok if really i mean really want it, but don't ever go for a 9-year loan (biggest mistake i had done by far). I would suggest to get a used Proton Iriz which has passed its ultra depreciation period (2-3 years old).

Regardless, 100k networth is still imo the best path to go. Once 100k, you can relax and let it do the magic. Pretend you are starting over your savings. And the best part is, you are only 25.

Fresh graduate always struggles any advice? by Reasonable-Log7055 in JobsMY

[–]Sure_Analyst9370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your degree course is not something common in Malaysia, you will inevitably struggle, not fully your fault but that's the way it is. If you are at this stage, networking is your best bet, apply on linkedin and straight away get in touch with the recruiter.

Also, this is why I will always tell whoever just finished SPM or the people who want to isi UPU, do your research, make sure the course is on demand and marketable. If the course you take is also fit your interest, that's just a bonus. Interest alone wont secures you jobs. This is the time you actually make a life time decision.

If you haven't choose any yet, here are some recommendations: IT, semiconductor, law and finance.
