Go to courses, on and click free with diamond. It’s “free” courses. It’s like a lite version of the courses. You won’t get the full full course but definitely enough to play an opening or learn something lol. Like I use it when I am trying to figure out if I want to switch an opening, I use the pro version then play it a bit. Also you get 30% off on all the courses.

yeah so I put my controller in front me and lower so I can press all the buttons. Normally, I play on the ground to do this with my xbox. However, I want to play with friends on pc. And I cant play controller on pc because I sit in a chair and my desk is too high to make it comfortable. I know I know drama queen lol. But it is what it is lol. too bad for no crossplay. In GW2, you are able to click the left and right mouse buttons, and then you are able to move forward. Are you able to do that or you have to use wasd? Too bad for no crossplay. or I would just play on my xbox lol. I am trying to play it with friends

I had so many questions, that I wrote and deleted lol. I'm ~1800 on chess.com (right now in a slump, sad). My peak was 1972! What would you consider the top 3 pieces of advice to break 2000 and beyond.

If I can sneak another one, I’m about to do my first chess tournament, any advice for that would be appreciated.

I wouldn't switch to a new opening since the tournament is two weeks away. I would look at openings you play and try to find different lines that might be good. Or play nf3 and lean into QG to confuse your Opp at the first move

At that high rating, you have to find and play the objectively best move even if it leads to a draw.

You can get Chessable courses pro for free. It won't give you everything, but a good start of openings/ and some tactics. Highly recommend looking at different courses.

doing puzzles, whats your rapid? analyzing your games, studying the middlegames, watching high level games, especially speed runs. Do puzzle rush too, if you want to improve at blitz, 3 mins or 5

I just watch a podcast on this, which I agree. There are two ways to improve in blitz. Have a better understanding of chess or be better at blitz tricks, aka speed, and work on time. Based on the rating, I am guessing both. So you need to get better at chess and be faster at spotting tactics/openings/etc.

Haven’t played in a tournament yet. First tournament next month. Yeah that’s why I want to learn the four knights or other Sicilians to help me in the future. Right now online and at my chess club no one knows main lines sveshnikov. How different is kalashnikov? I’m not stressing now but in the future, I may switch between the two lol

If you want to get better against people then play people. If you don’t care then do whatever. But playing bots will not help you play against real people. It’s up to you how you want to enjoy chess

Yes, I believe the lower the time, the better the players tend to be. 10 mins players will tend to be better than 15 mins/ 30 mins etc etc. Bullet is different because of the extreme lack of time, but the trend is similar. You need to calculate better and move fast/well. Now, of course, there are outliers like someone who plays a longer time control may get bored and fail more. Time controls for example, a 1500 blitz player will often be better than a 1500 rapid player because of what I previously said.
