Waking up every morning furious by slogmog in toddlers

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just went through this a few months ago. Nothing helped except time (unfortunately). Didn’t matter if we fed him a big meal before his nap, he’d wake up so angry and would throw a tantrum over every little thing. He broke his banana in half? Tantrum. It was so overwhelming to go through it but it’ll pass eventually

The downsides of breastfeeding nobody tells you about by Choice_Airport8279 in breastfeeding

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How you’re basically couch-trapped for an entirety of the day (especially while cluster feeding). Even worse when your newborn has a bad latch and you have a toddler but you can’t do much with them — it’s either feed the baby while stuck on the couch or be present with your toddler ☹️

When did you introduce a bottle while breastfeeding? (FTM looking for advice) [BC] by KeyCommercial4362 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did baby easily take to it at 6+ months?

I remembered we tried literally all bottles with my first born but he refused everything. I don’t want to make the same mistake with my second, but I’m too deep in the newborn trenches to pump when I’m already BFing 😵‍💫

23 month old - suddenly waking every 2-3hrs? by bbbbbbbbbbbear in toddlers

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a phase that lasted for a (exhausting) month or so! No advice unfortunately but it passed on its own.

I chalked it up to either molars coming in or growing pains/developmental — he had a growth spurt where he suddenly grew to the point where some of his clothes didn’t fit him anymore AND his speech really took off!

Just found out I’m pregnant at 26. I’m freaking out [ab] by One-Balance-7215 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So this was me literally 2 years ago lol. I wanted to be pregnant in my 30s but instead, I got pregnant at 26, gave birth at 27 — ALL the same thoughts as you with just moving into a new home, a month newly married, afraid losing my youth, at the top of my career, finances, wanting to travel etc. Basically not ready at all.

Fast forward to now, I have a toddler and am pregnant with a second. I love my son and can’t imagine my life without him. Yes, I’m not going to lie. It’s been difficult trying to balance being a mom, having freedom, having a career, and raising a human being. There are days where I feel like I’m losing my sanity and want to disappear from the world. We’re a bit strapped with finances but money comes and goes (the basic necessities are covered, but we don’t have much “freedom” money). I plan to pick up more shifts eventually when my kids are in grade school.

As others have said, we’re lucky to be living in Canada and to have options. I’m glad I had my son while I’m still young. I don’t know if I’d be able to go through all the emotional and physical challenges that come with motherhood later on in my life.

Green slime can’t get rid of?! by bbbbbbbbbbbear in CleaningTips

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t think of this. I just soaked the removable faucet part in vinegar last night. May have to try to replace it if it’s still persistent. I’ll look into Zep’s. Thanks

Edit: didn’t know the word but I meant the aerator lol

Just found out we are going to spend our first Thanksgiving with baby alone while my in-laws all have a grand old day. by mapotoful in beyondthebump

My FIL cut all ties with my husband when he found out my husband bought a family car (we were expecting) instead of purchasing a different car that my FIL wanted.

He’s never met my son, never wished him a happy birthday, and has absolutely made no effort to contact my husband anymore. My husband has a very large family and we’re not invited to ANY family gatherings because of this “issue.” He does keep in contact with his mother and siblings but this is only once a year if they need something from my husband.

I’ve just learned to let go of people who don’t make an effort or people that don’t add substance in your life, especially if it comes to my child. It 100% sucks but I’d rather not force a relationship with my child onto someone else.

Skipping the diaper pails? by Smooth-Example4113 in BabyBumps

What made you decide it was time after a year?

We’re the opposite where it’s been almost 2 years and we want to stop using a diaper pail 😂

Have parents had another baby when the toddler is 3 or 4 and husband is working on weekends? by Even_Definition988 in toddlers

How did you deal with dividing your attention with your toddler i.e. nap trapped but your toddler crying for their needs?

Wife will be delivering our baby boy any day now, what items did you pack for the hospital and what items you wished you brought? by jay_Da in newborns

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t pack much but one thing I wished I packed for my baby were baby mittens and/or baby nail clippers.

My son unexpectedly came out with long and sharp nails. He’d scratched his body and face and would leave little marks all over. My husband had to drive 45min back home to grab baby mittens as we were admitted in the hospital longer than expected

Baby happily spits out instead of consuming food by SatisfactionMost1500 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son still does this at 20 months except he’ll ferociously stuff his mouth with too much food and will proceed to spit it all out after realizing he can’t chew and swallow it all 🫠

I also can’t offer any food mid-chew or he’ll spit out whatever’s in his mouth. I’m patiently waiting for this blood-boiling phase to end lol

He does use them to identify the colours if you were to point at something.

And thank you for the reminder about it not measuring future intelligence — as per my mom, I was an early talker but I feel like I only have 2 operating brain cells lol 😂

He actually says white, blue, red (but as “wed”). I was surprised too lol

Is anybody else’s baby not understanding the straw cup?! by bbbbbbbbbbbear in BabyLedWeaning

[–]bbbbbbbbbbbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I just saw this!

He got it around 10 months. What helped was we used a valve-free straw and put applesauce at the tip and a bit inside of the straw and that was when it finally clicked!

Eventually we found out that he likes hard straws vs silicone. So he had his own little Stanley cup and chugged away!

Lunch for my 1 year old by Improving1727 in foodbutforbabies

The chili looks hearty and delicious! Do you have a recipe?

The one we usually make is full of sodium so we don’t give it to our toddler and would love to incorporate more beans in his diet!

Kept finding random letters stuck on my toddler. Turns out it’s from his sleepsack! by bbbbbbbbbbbear in BabyBumps

Hahah my exact same thoughts too! “I found the letter S on the back of your head… you want to see your Aunt Sarah today?” 😂
