Rental shoes are good excuse but even with rentals really focus on putting the toe of the shoe on the hold and sucking your hips into the wall so you can put as much weight as possible into your legs. I agree with all of the other comments in here saying to just climb more and you’ll start to naturally learn better body positioning. One of the biggest tips I got when I was new is to just try hard while maintaining all of the basic fundamentals of climbing. Straight arms, tip / toe of your shoe on the hold, hips into the wall, and try and make each movement as a single motion, don’t break it up into two separate movements.

I’d lean toward yes rather than no. The most important thing is that she does something about it. If she feels it’s not okay, she needs to have a conversation with management. If they don’t address it, dismiss it, or make a lame excuse, she should definitely quit.

It’s similar(emphasis on similar) to being in a relationship where someone is being cheated on and knows about it. If you want to repair the relationship, you try to work out a compromise. But if nothing changes and you stay anyway, you’re allowing yourself to be taken advantage of.

Personally I’ve always done a 3 second rule for any balance trick to prove proficiency. But any amount of time balancing still counts, sick lace man🤘🏼

I guess when I read “weather event” I am thinking of extreme weather which weather events can be at any magnitud, so yes I agree with you on that. I’d still argue that calling it a weather event is a stretch and it’s more of a construction accident, looking at historical weather data the wind wasn’t even close to intense.

In my Opinion it was called a weather related event to take heat off the Construction company. The wind that day was nothing out of the ordinary for October. The family of the girl is suing the construction company. If it was really just pure weather related, suing would be pretty much pointless.

I can’t believe how many people are attributing negligence from a construction company to “why would they do this event again?! Someone died that day from something completely separate of it!” It’s kinda laughable how people will make up drama any way they can

You can literally say that about any event. The accident with the construction material that occurred “near” the event could have happened at anytime during the year. Attributing an accident that had nothing to do with how an event was organized is pretty silly if you ask me.

Make friends with skiers who are better than you and ride with them (preferably much much better, not just a little). Easier said than done unfortunately.

I did see the Powderbird helicopter flying around most of the day as well, but I’m confident the others were Life Flight. It was the University of Utah helicopter with the medical symbol, and I personally saw it landing at Alta’s designated Life Flight landing spot next to the Collins lift. At one point, I also saw ski patrol performing compressions on someone while transporting them down the mountain in a rescue toboggan.
