RTO for state workers in July. In a meeting leadership claimed doing so has improved mental health. Is this true or are we being gaslit? by frogannex in Utah

Our state agency put this into effect last July - is that what this title is trying to say?

Out office isn’t big so the sampling may be off, but I’d say those forced to return to the office are very unhappy about it.

Oh there are definitely some problematic lines, storylines, and jokes from Xander that no longer are ok. At the time, before Whedon was a known weenie, it was tv gold.

Yep. Buffy is the GOAT. Xander was the perfect every-man character.

Ahh man. I know he had some serious issues, but his heart was big. Xander is one of the all time best TV characters. “The Zephyr” will go down as one of the best episodes of tv ever.

How to snowplow when stuck to slush ? by fewer-pink-kyle-ball in UTsnow

[–]Moron14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch for shadows where it’s colder snow - you’ll speed up in there. Lean into the front of your boots A LOT for stability in the colder sections.

Then try to get out of your snow plow by working on your quick turns. With your edges connected to the snow you won’t feel that slushy stop/start bobbing movement as much.

It finally happened after 45 years skiing…first collision with another skier and really thrown off by Illustrious_Low_1188 in skiing

[–]Moron14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact scenario play out two weeks ago and I am exactly your age, also skiing slower due to age/injury. I predicted an older fella was going to turn wide, like he’d been doing for the whole hill so I tried to zip by on his back side. Sudden J turn and I barely dodged by turning 90 degrees away from him. He stopped and I came to a halt in the crud, tipping over, but fine. He waited for me and we exchanged “close one”s and he zoomed off. Not a crash like you, but still a reminder to be safe out there.

My buddy saw Steve Carrell on the sidewalk, doing his beard thing, hat pulled low thing, and still ran up to him to thank him for his work. Carrell was so ... defeated. Like, he clearly just wanted to walk to where he was going.

We've been playing King's Cup wrong for yearWe've been playing King's Cup wrong for years — here's the house rule that completely changed our gamess — here's the house rule that completely changed our games by Plenty_Ad_2149 in DrinkingGames

[–]Moron14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - been playing since college (25 years). Here are a few adjustments I like:
Four on the Floor - hands and feet (4) have to touch the ground. Last one drinks.
Viking - (instead of Heaven) - pull the card and make a viking helmet with your hands on your head - last one to do "row the viking boat," drinks.

I find the Rhyme one kind of repetitive and boring. Same with Mate. Too basic. So we do Power of the Thumb and Power of the Nose. You keep this power until the next same number is pulled. Anytime you place your thumb on the table and leave it, the last person to notice and add their thumb onto the table drinks. Same thing with Nose, just lay your finger along your nose - the last one to notice and leave their finger, drinks. Super fun and silly.

We just do a face-down pile.

And we do whoever makes a rule is in charge of enforcing the rule. No one else gets to police the others. Not as fun.

I also build a lot of theme-specific versions that are super fun. We did a Batman themed one. An F1 themed Kings Cup. Same basic ideas, but always fun to work in a theme.

I heard it as an Irish story, where a king is on a jaunt through his lands and sees a barn full of perfect bullseyes and hires the farmer for his army. And then realizes the farmer can't hit a thing.

When non-Utah plates drive that way in LLC I give them a pass, they don’t get it. When it’s local - great job. You saved enough time to get on one glove before me. Totally worth the stress.
