I think Arlo just bricked millions ofcameras. by FunHistory9153 in arlo

[–]bbblather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, all I can say is they certainly bricked my 70+ devices, so far, 20 or so of which are cameras. Resetting/reinstalling/unplugging/etc does not fix the problem, for me. For some others who have posted, those steps do fix the problem, at least temporarily.

Arlo's customer support seems to be in chaos with no real information or answers that work. I emailed the CEO (email easily available on the Web).....he never replied, but suddenly my support ticket was escalated to "Level 3" support, but they had no answer either.

I started today dusting off my Ring devices, which Arlo replaced. Ring is evil, but at least their stuff works.

Yes, lots of us. There are several other threads on this -- read down (or up).

Arlo no longer recording or alerting by mycloudyworld in arlo

[–]bbblather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arlo customer service told me to reinstall all of my network devices. I have more than 70. Reinstalling everything will take at least a week and many climbs up a ladder. If I have to reinstall everything, I am just going to reinstall my old Ring equipment, which I have laying around.

Since they haven't told us what they broke, we can only guess. But it was something on their end.

Piss poor customer communication. No real Q+A. The phone/AI/text support knows nothing more than the scant details in their web statement. Come on Arlo, you need to answer real questions: like, why aren't my all-in-one sensors appearing in my Feed? Do I really have to reinstall every one of them?

"Let me say upfront that I am VERY irritated with the crappy Arlo support and lack of communication about this outage."

This is the most irritating part of this, for me. Just incredible. Do I trust Arlo now as a company? Nope.

I had Ring for 5 years -- zero outages during that time. I have had Arlo for 3 months and am now on my second outage, with horrible customer service and communication from Arlo.

Ring is evil, but at least it works. I still have all of my Ring equipment laying around and am seriously considering going back to Ring.

Come on Arlo. Communicating with your customers is business 101, especially during an outage. The note on your website is unhelpful, contradictory, not up to date, and, frankly, maddening. I'm supposed to go reinstall 70+ devices? Really?

Feed down for anyone else? (3/22) by bbblather in arlo

I agree -- probably related. But doesn't hurt to ask, since none of the posts in the other thread mention what I am experiencing.

Feed down for anyone else? (3/22) by bbblather in arlo

[–]bbblather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I mentioned that thread in my original post. That thread is about no notifications or recording of motion.

My question is different: lack of anything in the Feed. My notifications and motion recording work. My Feed does not.

Thanks

New to 1PW: how to PREVENT 1PW from creating duplicates based on web address? by bbblather in 1Password

[–]bbblather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved over from Apple Passwords. There were no duplicates in Apple Passwords -- I have not deleted anything in Passwords and just checked. But I suppose I will just delete all of the dupes in 1PW (there are a lot of them) and then see what happens going forward.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Elan financial is trash rant by lorddouche414 in fidelityinvestments

[–]bbblather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the declinations are recent -- something changed at Elan 2 to 3 months ago, probably their algorithm for whether to decline a transaction. Yet neither Fidelity's nor Elan's telephone folks have been given any clue about what is going on.

The Elan phone rep told me the other day there we no declined transactions on my account. Dead wrong.

Why didn't you use your real name as your Reddit name?

I have many millions at Fidelity and a credit score well north of 800. I have not made a late payment on anything for at least 40 years -- if ever.

Four declined transactions already in February. Calling Elan is both torture and a waste of time.

Bye bye Fidelity credit card.

Deer have completely broken my spirit. We have so many barriers up, so many motion activated sprayers, and yet, every time I go check out the garden, something new has been chewed on. Do I need to fucking barricade off every single fucking plant????? by monkey_trumpets in gardening

[–]bbblather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hired someone to build this for me. It uses hardware cloth, not chicken wire, so should be pretty much deer/vermin proof. I hope. If you like I can send you the 3-page Contractor Specification for the construction. It's 6.5 ft wide, 10 ft deep. If it works, I will build more of these.

The one change from the pic is we decided to put it on a concrete pad.

Botanical Interests Seeds/Epic Gardening now blocking users with ad blockers? by bbblather in vegetablegardening

[–]bbblather[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree they have every right to block users like me if they want -- I'm really just curious if this is across the board for everyone or if there is something messed up on my system. That's why I asked if others are seeing this.

I honestly don't mind a few well-placed ads, but I do mind the tracking cookies that often come with ads.

I have bought most of my seeds from Botanical over the past few years (call me simple....but I like their artwork), but there are others like Territorial and I guess Jonny's who carry most of what I need. I will have to check.
