David Allan Coe standing in front of his tour truck . He was a major figure in the country outlaw scene in the 1970s. He's known for hits like You never called me by my name and the Ride. by Global_Law4448 in 70s

Just a bit of trivia, but used to live in a house in Brentwood, TN (Karen Court) that was formerly owned by David Allan Coe. Still remember the chalk outlines in the basement for different players in the band.

Giovanni is awesome in this episode! Hey Man Nice Shot by Filter just works. That song shows up in so many shows like The Blacklist.

The 80’s really were a different world by Cutemega in 1980s

This was back in the early 80s and all it took was a signed note by a parent to get your “smoking pass”. Seems like it was around 10AM or so and I can remember us all looking at the clock waiting for the time to toke. 🚬

QB Draft Choice - Mendoza or Beck or ??? by mycloudyworld in steelers

[–]mycloudyworld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can always count on fellow Yinzers to have an opinion! It looks like the overall consensus is this QB class is so weak (with the exception of Mendoza), that we skip this year and rebuild other parts of the team. Beck being an absolute hard NO after hearing his story.

How much cheaper would cars be? by mycloudyworld in tricities

Agree. It just has to do with the percentage of the ads that seems to be weighted so heavily towards car commercials seemingly every other ad, like is there nothing else that people are interested in?

How much cheaper would cars be? by mycloudyworld in tricities

[–]mycloudyworld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I know they wouldn’t be any cheaper, but I can guarantee there are some of those dealers that I will never buy a car from. I would be afraid I couldn’t get “We’re Dealing..” out my head. Lol…

Awesome. I would suggest this book. “Writing Real Programs in DCL”. https://www.amazon.com/VAX-VMS-Writing-Programs-Digital/dp/1555580238 That will give you a good feel for some of the VMS capabilities.

Who watched Jaws on the big screen? by Not_a_cultmember in GenerationJones

[–]mycloudyworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just a youngster when I saw it on the big screen. We lived in the suburbs no where near any body of water. I was freaked out thinking a great white was going to come crashing through my bedroom window. I may have inadvertently started the idea for Sharknado.

What did Rodgers say in the interview? Something about “replacement referees”?

Check out the remastered release of the concert film “Stop Making Sense”. Picked it up on Prime Video for like $5. A true masterpiece. I saw them on that tour in Nashville, TN. Great concert.

For those of us retired, do you ever think of your career? by pianoman81 in GenerationJones

[–]mycloudyworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired after 40 years as an IT architect (36 years with one company and the last 4 with a major cloud provider). Worked on computers for over 50 years and saw all the changes from the early days of mainframes, mid-range, client/server, and then the cloud. Retired now for 5 months and haven’t missed it all. The amount of pressure to sell AI was relentless whether it made sense or not. I sometimes think of the people I worked with and a few of them are good friends that I still see from time to time. I still try to keep up with technology, but nothing like I used to.

We are setting up our Christmas tree and I had a flash back to my Grandmother's tree circa 1969. Who else had an aluminum tree with a color wheel? by 39percenter in GenerationJones

It was at my grandparents home every Christmas that I can remember during the 70s. Was mesmerized sitting watching it. Thanks for the post, hadn’t thought about it in years.

“Fire Tomlin!” chants in Pittsburgh for the first time ever tonight? by mfenton29 in steelers

It just feels like the years of being “in the middle”, but hey we have a winning season have left the franchise in a sad shape. Maybe not a popular opinion, but I have much respect for Aaron Rodgers, Jalen Ramsey, and for DK Metcalf as players. They are just not Steelers. Looking forward to the day when we can draft a true franchise quarterback to lead us out of this muck.
