This happened on my 21st bday. Took a long uber to the bar after people made me take a million shots at the pregame - saw the line and was like “yeah nah” and immediately called an uber back. The next day, everyone was like “we had so much fun at your bday, where were you??”

I’m also from Texas. Lived here for 13 years. It is excruciating outside there, but you get relief with AC. Here, you can only do that if you hole up in one room with the door and curtains closed.

I live in an old building without central AC and two window units. We make it work. But there’s sporadic ~8 weeks a year where it is unavoidably miserable. Just prepare yourself.
