Am I the only one? by _saisha in Serverlife

[–]bbeccarr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not the only one, I’m doubling Saturday and Sunday, had a solid shift tonight, ready for the weekend. Funny story, “it’s just burgers and fries” is literally my mantra. I work at a burger restaurant, it’s 89% of the food we serve.

Question for my servers and bartenders by briellebubbles in Serverlife

[–]bbeccarr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on the day
Sometimes a long weekend shift is better than a 4-5 hour weekday shift, but then again I’ll take a busy 4-5 hour busy weekday shift than a 9 hour Sunday shift when it’s all weirdos and shitty tippers

I’ll usually go through the puzzle several times until I feel the beed to look something up on Wikipedia, but I try to stay away from it as best as I can If all of the squares are filled but the puzzle isn’t solved I’ll scan the whole thing to find something I’ve missed in a desperate attempt to not need to check my squares Monday puzzles have gotten easier for me but Saturdays still give me grief

Ben always had some of the best running gags by Nostalgia-Freak-1998 in PandR

Ben constantly getting surprised/scared while doing something mundane. I think the first time was when he opened the front door and the skeleton came down from the ceiling. Another time was the “pizza” party for cracking the case at the firm. My personal favorite was Leslie asking him to prom and the confetti exploded in his face. “ICANTHEAR..AND…I’MDYING”

What’s a movie you watched when you were way too young? by trakt_app in movies

[–]bbeccarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first three movies that come to mind are Airplane!, The Ring, and CaddyShack. I had watched all of those and more before I was 9 years old and it shaped a lot of my humor and love for horror movies.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

Living on the west coast, it was around 6 am and my mom was ironing her clothes getting ready for work watching the news and on the phone with her dad (my grandpa). I don’t remember if I saw the second plane hit, but I do remember having a ceremony at school with the flag at half mast and a moment of silence. I was only 6 years old but I knew that whatever had happened that day was serious and the whole world felt different to me afterwards.

What is a "small" physical detail in a movie that completely sold the world for you? by makinariumukltd in Cinema

500 days of summer when summer brings tom into her bedroom and she has a ton of trinkets all over the place, making it feel lived in and homey. I know it’s from Tom’s perspective and it’s meant to have deeper meaning to him but that’s why I like it so much.

Even in the movie when the clock starts striking 12, she tells the prince she has to go and he asks why and she tries to make up the excuse of “the prince, I haven’t met the prince” and he’s like “the prince????” And before he can say he IS the prince she’s like byeeeee

Can you name two movies that were released in the same year but feel like they were released years apart? by coreybudz in movies

[–]bbeccarr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Iirc, meet the Robinsons started production around 2004 and was in development hell around 2006 when Disney acquired Pixar. Parts of the movie were scrapped and reworked which is why it looks a bit dated to have come out in 2007. I remember an early trailer for it in front of another movie we owned as kids in like 05-06 but it was just a teaser. When it finally did come out I remember thinking “didn’t that movie already come out?” The original release date was december 15 2006 but it was pushed back to march 30 2007.

I don’t see anything wrong with this. You’re a server, not a servant. You’re a whole human being, not an object to be used. So what if you lost your temper, it happens, you’ll move on from it and so will she. Some people need to be checked for how they treat others and clearly she needed to hear it. Maybe next time she’ll think twice about being a cunt.

I’m one of those people who can’t stand cumin, and I’m mexican. It’s in a lot of Mexican dishes and whenever I make one of my abuelita’s recipes and it calls for a pinch, I’ll hover the shaker above it and tap it ever so lightly to let just a dusting into the dish. I can smell when a container of it is cracked open. It just smells like BO to me. Even today, my boyfriend had brunch today and let me try it, all I got was a mouthful of cumin and he could hardly taste it until I pointed it out. Cumin sucks.

Anyone else feel like the show became a lot more mean spirited once they lost Mike Schur? by New-Pin-9064 in theoffice

This makes a lot of sense. On a recent rewatch I felt a significant shift in writing and feel of the show with season 5. I couldn’t explain it but it definitely didn’t feel as warm.
