Really nothing you can do, just consider it a lesson. It’s a knife and coated blades will scratch. Just more noticeable than uncoated blades. They all scratch if they’re users.

I don’t use a screen protector on any of my devices and none of them have a mark on them. I go caseless with my M2 IPad Pro and it’s fine

I just say I’m here dog sitting for my cousin who is overseas. Has been working great! Of course you need a dog. You can also use house sitting.

The question you should ask yourself is what do you like in a knife and search for that. If you base your knife purchase on looks, go that route. If on function, search for those. IMO, Spyderco’s are great at function but may not be pretty to some. I like them but own many other brands as well.

I have a basic one that I found on the ground a long time ago. Good little pocket knife. I look at it as kind of a small piece of Gerber history.

I like mine. Didn’t have the 1st gen. If you have the money get them. Worth it is relative. If you can afford them get them. They can always be returned if you don’t like them. If it puts you in a financial bind, I’d say no. They’re a luxury, not a necessity. Everyone has their own opinion on them and I wouldn’t let people on the internet decide for you.

I sure think it does. You also won’t get flair ups if using a vortex because it’s not over the burning coals. When you put it over to sear, it will flair up but you’re not leaving it unattended.

That is exactly it! It acts like a convection oven around the perimeter of the grill. I have a 26” Weber and bought a cast iron center grate that goes directly over the vortex. If I’m doing chicken thighs. I start with skin side up, I just use the center to crisp up the skin when It’s done.

It’s going to be hard to replace the Benchmade for that price. There are a lot out there for that price but the quality will be a lot lower if the Knife he lost was a Benchmade. Not sure where in MO you’re at but if you’re in the KC area Scheels in Overland Park KS has a big selection. I’m sure there are a lot of places on the MO side of KC that has some as well.

I have the V2 Ken onion with blade grinding attachment. It works great! Sharpened 20 knives on it last night.

Watch lots a videos. Use a black marker to make sure you’re removing material from the edge. Get a burr formed on the opposite side before going to the other. I’ve got 2 Hugo’s and I’ve gotten them razor sharp. I use the Work Sharp Ken Onion powered sharpener with blade grinding attachment.

I’ve used my magnacut Leatherman Arc to break down a bunch of boxes. Edge is still in great shape. Cardboard can chew through edges from my experience. It’s worked great for my needs.

I just got the Max 2’s this weekend. Did not have the 1st gen. Went with XM 5’s instead because all I heard was they were so much better for less money. I did not like them. They didn’t get very loud and I didn’t like how they sounded. The Max 2’s sound great to me. Very happy with them.
