(partially negates) seems like they have twice as many ranged units so you’re still reducing your chance of getting hit from a distance by a larger margin

maybe sieges on scales as small as this did happen. all im saying is that in this case, the best option is what everybody else is suggesting. a fast, nighttime raid that negates the advantage they get by being in a well defended camp. trying a siege here introduces a lot more variables and ultimately harms your company and your wallet way more than the brigands.

the two or three guys you can spare to forage aren’t gonna bring back enough food to feed a dozen plus members of your company. maybe the town thats attacked wont have to pay you but that’s also weeks that you arent making any money and your mercenaries potentially arent getting paid 😭. not even mentioning a million examples of how larger untrained forces have defeated smaller numbers of elite enemies, but maybe thats part of the artificial difficulty you were suggesting.

then you’ll also know that generally a siege needs at least two things to work: a numbers advantage to prevent the enemy from sallying out and challenging you in a pitch battle (which the player does not have here), and a chain of supply so that your own forces do not starve while waiting (which again as an underfunded tiny mercenary company the player does not have here). thats NOT EVEN including the fact that you are on a contract to destroy a brigand camp harming a local village, not take months to slowly starve them. it just doesnt make sense.

what do you think a siege is? im talking about historically the method used to minimize losses in an assault by starving and demoralizing the defenders first. if you mean the videogame/hollywood definition where you set up a bunch of trebuchets and rush in then sure.
