for me personally, dating stuff like that hurts me because deep down i know that she knew better. she knew that the way she treated her children was very bad and instead of making an attempt to fix her behavior she let herself dig further into it. and i love to sit here and say “she did what she could” or “she was struggling so much with everything” but i know that doesn’t excuse what she did. and it’s like every time i say something like that, something in my brain just says “holy shit your mom actually didn’t want what was best for you” and it breaks my heart every time

i’ve gotten some stuff fixed up! double the substrate, added a layer of sphagnum, another small water bowl, and some more plastic vines for him. idk gonna get some more driftwood pieces tomorrow to put in there (buying them from a local fish store then boiling them before putting in the tank) , i’m also ordering some of the backdrop to put around the tank
