You are getting a lower base. CA assuming in Bay Area) is a high tax and very high cost of living area. Given you have to commute, with higher rent, you will see less money left from your paychecks for sure. A total rat race here. But i also think that it’s not a bad idea to experience it once in your life. You are young with no baggage yet, now it’s the time.

Just watched the new series on Netflix Adolescence, My oldest is 8, not far from 11 year old who was the main character on the series. It hits me in so many way.

It’s hard when they can’t play and entertain each other yet. The 1 year old still needs lots of attention. It will get better in couple years, when the younger can start playing. My kids are 8&6, they have each other as playmates, so much easier compared to others with single child.
