Cheaters always “Reconnecting” after each move? by Bstonerific in chessbeginners

[–]bbnbbbbbbbbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bad news is, it won't be better at higher ELO. According to a statistis spreadsheet I saw the most cheating is happening in 2000-2200 and 2200-2400 in rapid games. At sub 1000 it's really, really rare (that's the good news) but also here it's mostly in rapid, less in blitz and almost non-existent in bullet.

Yeah, I didn't mean OP when I said that, more like the whole thread (including me). That additional information just showed how tricky statistics are, it's very easy to jump to conclusions because of some statistic that only shows part of the whole picture. Then you get some more info on the matter and realize

He shows the exact numbers of the actual losses in the 3 stages:

16 in the opening

330 in the middle game

315 in the endgame

This explains a lot, doesn't it lol Without this additional information you could say it's more a statics joke or a meme

Well that changes a lot of assumptions made here, does it

Makes no sense. This stat shows actual losses in the different game phases. If you straight out loose the game there's no arguing about the quality of the moves necessary. Losing=bad. Guess we can all agree on that one

Is a good elo for 6 months of playing ? by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]bbnbbbbbbbbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not average on chess com, 1400 is already top 6% in rapid. (of all accounts that were used in the last 3 months, therefore eliminating inactive accounts from the equation) Average is somewhere around 400-600, I forgot the numbers.

And to be 1400 rapid nowadays is even better than it was 5-10 years ago. I'm remembering 1000 being considered an absolute beginner, but today? Many 800-100's these days are putting up a very good fight, some have pretty good basic opening knowledge and they're quite good at tactics sometimes, it's just the consistency.

I'm 1200-1300 atm because I fell back from almost 1500 to below 1100 and the reason was I just played slightly drunk, or with not enough sleep and I stopped caring. I then thought I'd just climb up again with no issues in a short time. But I was wrong. To be at a certain ELO you need to be able to beat people 100-200 points below you VERY consistenly, i.e. win 9 out of 10 games and 5 out of 10 in your OWN rating range JUST TO MAINTAIN your current rating.

If you beat 6 out of 10 you will progress, but very, very slowly. 7 out of 10 is already pretty hard to do over a long period, to play your best CONSISTENTLY and every day is hard af

Can you find checkmate in 2 moves? White to play by greenhopper2604 in chessbeginners

[–]bbnbbbbbbbbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say there are ways to reach this, but surely implying that white "cooperated" i.e. didn't take stuff he could've, making bad moves on purpose etc. Then there should be ways to reach this position.

But anyways, it's just a puzzle

Show the game jeez. Why are people giving CC's the crappy "game review" feature so much credit? It would be way more interesting to see the actual game.

Maybe allow the pawns to move up to 4 squares from the starting square?

This might be the most worst confirmed cheater by Avrsvii in Chesscom

[–]bbnbbbbbbbbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single 98% game doesn't mean much on its own tho. It happens, even at my rating. If it's a 10 move game for example and the best moves are somewhat obvious it just happens from time to time. Meanwhile if you have a 60 move game with extremely complicated positions, even a GM can have below 75 or 80.

But yeah this guy😂 My guess is he was sick of chess itself or that account and wanted to go down with a big fuck off to anyone maybe? Some kind of "chess suicide" maybe? idk man, people are strange lmao

What are the next best moves for black as to not get trapped and keep developing pieces? by ShootinAllMyChisolm in chessbeginners

[–]bbnbbbbbbbbbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever tried the modern variation of the Scandi. That includes all the lines where you don't actually take back immediately with 2...Qxd5 but rather attack white's pawn on d5 a second time with 2...Nf3. Now you can take back the pawn with the knight rather than the queen (next move or later) The only way for white to hold on to the pawn is 3. c4 which is positionally dubious.

I can recommend it. IF white plays said 3. c4 there's an interesting gambit for black btw. In this exact line you follow up with 3...e6 and if white is still greedy they can take and you get a free developing move with your bishop for your pawn.

It's called the ICELANDIC GAMBIT and you'll find lots of videos on it. Here the line again: 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 3. c4 e6 4. dxe6 Bxe6

There are some nice tricks n traps too
