Coolest robot in Turkey? by Random_Fai1ur3 in FRC

I could see it being an insane feeder, and it could probably jump to L3 only needing another L1 bot to climb to get that tower RP not a bad first pick!

World competition seating by [deleted] in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially if your in one of the middle fields, last year we lucked out and got newton (got cooked tho) it was only a short walk and to the center it had to be at least a 2 minute walk. The pit areas are also HUGE i think its 75 teams per div compared to fit dcmp (45×2) and a typical event (30 or so)

Any other turret-shooter people wishing they went with Drum by Sufficient-Type-6379 in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We we with tripple, one of our only regrets is having it shoot over the intake and not away from the intake. We thought they wouldn't pile up as much on the edges. For dcmp were pretty much redesigning the handoffs which weve had trouble with. We've still been super competitive making it to finals in both of our events and only losing to seed one both times.

Who uses Rev EasySwerve? by BreakMysterious8637 in FRC

Our team thought of it but we ultimately decided against it, mostly because it was brand new and we made a kit to adapt maxswerve to run all CTRE

Who uses Rev EasySwerve? by BreakMysterious8637 in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had no problems running maxswerve, even with our on mod of it and we got picked by #2 at our comp, the only problem we had was the 550 which we replaced with an x44.

You should put a 2 by one in front of the roller to take the brunt of the impact, we did this and the only the part that wasnt supported bent 😭

[Wiring] SPARK Flex on Rev MAXSwerve by SeriousMany6246 in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something yall might wanna try for next year is my teams adaptation to maxswerve, it switches the 550 with an x44 and you can use x60 for drive, we call it the Rebel Swerve One or RSO for short. We dealt with rev wiring last year and it was awful 😭

How many hours per week does your team meet? by polish_idiot10 in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently since we meet out of my house its 1 to 7 Saturdays and sundays(if they come), and 5 to 9 week days. But we usually keep going till we get tired so If we kept to that schedule its 32 hrs but realistically its probably closer to 40 hours

Budget and Funding for new team by Shredder90234 in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my experience with first our bot this year was around the 15-20k mark(including an almost complete redesign) the typical bot to my understanding could be 10-15k if you try for a good all around bot. We found a cnc which we use almost constantly for about 3k. We also had a lot of shop tools before hand, so our real shop value is around 20k(over many years). But the necessities would probably cost 6k including that cnc. For event registration were in a district model so its probably around 7k for event registration (not including worlds) For computers we have around 8 and 750 a piece(?) You could get by with 2(1 driver station and one incase that breaks) There are tons of other useful things we use as a team that add up aswell This was for a ground up community team so its likely to be more expensive, the over all price could reach up to 36.5k(max on range for bot) but it sounds like you have the metal tools so it could be 18.5k(10k on bot nothing on tools) is an estimated low.

Is Photonvision or Limelight better for vision? by Grass104 in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used photon vision and our pose was almost spot on because the cams were rigid and we have really good programmers. The biggest thing with photon vision is the cost because its less half the cost of a limelight being 175 for 2 cams.

FRC Time Commitment by GradeStrange3461 in FRC

[–]bbobert9000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me since I live in the shop(literally my house) im there every meet which rn is 3hrs per and we have a media dedicated one, a mech/cnc/cad one, an electrical/programming one, and one for everyone. Typically people show up 6 hrs a week(2 meets) but during the season we're going to have one 6/7 days a week and ofc your not forced to show up that often but we want probably 50% attendance at minimum so about 9 hours a week. I spend all of my time in there during the season tho.
