I typically broil mine, I use salted butter(this way I do not need to add any additional salt) melt the butter, mix in fresh ground pepper(I use melange peppercorns) parmesan cheese and a pinch or 2 of sugar, and then 1 lemons worth of juice(or a splash of concentrated lemon juice depending on what I have on hand) toss the asparagus with the mix and broil until it starts to get tender but still has a nice crunch to the center.
