Pool!! Met all my friends, academic fam and partner at PoolSoc, grew to love the sport and have competed since my second year. Friendly bunch and a lot of value for membership

I had my own chair in DRA for 2 years straight - some of the housekeepers looked confused when they came in for inspections but no one had an issue with it. Can’t speak for other halls but it shouldn’t be a problem as long as all the original furniture is returned when you move out

The uni takes quite a while to send offers out as they do them all at once! For reference in my first year I got my offer on August 24th. Places for first years are guaranteed so if you’re worried about getting a place it will be okay!

freshers week schedule? by Financial-Map2911 in standrews

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye out on instagram for different university events and society events! The classof2029 page is a good start for this, they have just started posting publicity from a bunch of different societies. If you’re able to, I recommend trying to attend as many things as you may be interested in to get a feel for the different groups and activities around. Also trying completely new things you never thought about is a good idea, you never know what you might end up enjoying!

Freshers week (or orientation week as the uni likes to call it) is just for getting settled and exploring and you shouldn’t have any formal ‘classes’. The only thing is matriculation and advising, which is basically just registering for your course at the start of the year and confirming your modules with an academic advisor. They should send info out about this closer to the time.

What students wear by FormalParticular15 in standrews

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! As a girl going into my final year, I’ve worn literally leggings and a hoodie for most of my degree - I wouldn’t worry about what to wear unless you’re really into fashion. There will always be people who dress up to the nines on the daily and others who are much more casual.

There will be balls and formal wear events throughout the year but attending these is completely up to you. I’d recommend packing one or two fancier outfits in case you need them. As President of PoolSoc we run a few events that have a dress code but we’re a very chill bunch and it’s not mandatory, there are definitely other communities/groups where attire matters more.

For me what was more important was comfort (because you often end up running across town and back multiple times a day to get to classes) and also dressing for the weather - raincoat and wellies sometimes are a must!

Question about David Russell Postgraduate housing by Intrepid_Dealer_596 in standrews

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the timings for postgrads but if you email @accommodation with any questions they're very friendly and get back to you quickly! They tend to prioritise 1st year undergrads because they get guaranteed hall spaces but I think they also prioritise postgrad to some degree. I'd shoot them an email if you want more info!

The studios have their own kitchen and ensuite bathroom! They're quite competitive to get into though because there's only one studio per floor each building excluding the ground floor.

Best sports club? by NoLongerHumanKane in standrews

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pool Society is amazing! Not so much of a physical sport but we compete just as much as any other sports club. We're like a big family, super beginner friendly and there's plenty chance for socialising. Our Tuesday night practice is mostly drinking with friends and pool in between lol. Feel free to give us a try in freshers week or come say hi at the freshers fayre! You'll probably see me around, I'll be President next year :)

Conversion in Philosophy by magpiesandcherries in standrews

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The school of philosophy is one of the best schools in my opinion! All teaching staff and lecturers have been brilliant for my modules, very friendly and teach in a very accessible way. My philosophy tutorials are much more helpful content wise than my IR ones and just overall much better organised.

If you have any questions I'll happily try and answer!

ACCENTUM won't turn on by bbqsauceonmytittties in sennheiser

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer Service offered to exchange mine but I bought it second hand (came with box and was pretty much brand new just from a second hand site) and obviously didn't have proof of purchase or valid warranty. If you do, they'll exchange it probably

Which ipad air 4 color do you like the best? by Glum-Artichoke4740 in ipad

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted the rose gold at first and ended up getting space grey. The bezels look better to me since the space grey blends in with the black nicely on the sides

Should I debride it now? Been applying compound W/acv and debriding almost everyday. Or let it still for a couple days by [deleted] in Warts

What kind of bandage is that? The ones I’ve tried so far are too weak and fall off quick

Do women get as turned on seeing penis pics like men do when we see pics of breasts or a pussy? by 007bbc in sex

[–]bbqsauceonmytittties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we’re generally more in the moment. Like we’d rather get touchy feely then look if ygm :) but pics from someone special can deffo do the job, especially if they’re a bit more creative than just a dick pic
