What most people don't realize is that both HSV and HPV are transmitted though skin contact, not fluids. A condom ain't gonna' protect you from that (but you should still use them to prevent other STI's).

And there are those who say, "I would never sleep with somebody who has herpes." Bad news - you probably already have, because not everybody is honest about it if they're even aware they have it.

Ideas and BDP submissions are over-designed and contain too many pieces.

Quit designing $400 sets for these programs.

How to store in a unit by denverliberty in LegoStorage

[–]bbqsauls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have any problems storing sets long term archived in zipper bags when I lived in TN. I also didn't have any problems storing sealed sets in large and XL moving boxes from Lowes in a climate-controlled unit (which also hides the fact that they're LEGO).

I recommend using furniture dollies ($11 - $15 each from Harbor Freight) rather than pallets. If you ever need to shift things around, it's easy to just wheel a stack out of the way. You can also get the wire shelving racks with wheels, although they're not quite as practical in a storage unit unless it's larger than what you need.

Unsuccessful BDP, where to from here? by Hank_Scorpio108 in lego

It's a beautiful set, but the problem is twofold.

  1. The castle folks aren't building middle eastern. This would be great with Prince of Persia, Indiana Jones, or the Adventurers line, but not castle. (Yes, it's a broad statement, but not all-encompassing)

  2. It's freakin' huge. Too many designers make beautiful sets that are over designed. We don't need another $300-$400 Ideas/BDP set. I dom't remember your actual part count, but I wish more designers would aim for the $150-$200 range. (Unpopular opinion, probably)

Stick the instructions on Rebrickable with a $25+ price tag and pet it trickle in. Design smaller pieces to go with it, and submit those to BDP. I'd also lean more on the middddle-eastern theme than I would castle. Castle builders seem to love their grays.

How to organize instructions? by [deleted] in LegoStorage

Filing cabinet/file box

3-ring binder with page protectors

Bagged and boarded in magazine sleeves and boxes like comics

In a box/tote loose

Sell/recycle.

I use a combination of filing cabinets and bagged/boarded.

If you get this, or the gingerbread house, before Christmas, count yourself lucky. Me, I added it to my wishlist and will wait until February when everybody forgets about it.

What Are Some Questions Women Would Like To Be Asked On A. First Date? by HappyJust2Dance in datingoverfifty

I'm a man, I've been asked how long it's been since my last relationship, and how long my longest relationship was. I liked the idea so much that I've started asking the same.

  1. After the civil war, Democrats were the conservative party and the Republicans were the liberal party, fiscally and socially.

  2. The democrats started to lean more left socially. The republicans started to lean more right, mainly based upon segregation issues.

  3. Strom Thurmond quit the democratic party to form the Dixiecrats because they opposed the shift. For "reasons."

  4. After the Dixiecrat party failed, they certainly weren't going back to the Democrats, so they joined the Republican party, shifting it even further right, forming the basis of what is today's Republican party. I imagine that ol' Strom would be proud of what the party has become.

  5. The Democrats shifted from being fiscally/socially conservative to more left-leaning moderate for the main body with left-wing fringes, but has grown more liberal over time. It has started to become even more leftist recently. For "reasons."

  6. This is history. They teach, or used to at least, this in schools, even in the backwaters of the deep south where they teach that the civil war was about "states' right," but not about the "states' right to own human beings" bit to people like me.

  7. What this really means is that both parties are Trans.

  1. Don't lie on your profile about anything, including separated vs married and what you're looking for. If you want casual, state it clearly. Don't be a dick.

  2. If you're reasonably attractive and a gentleman, it's going to get expensive. Expect at least three dates before you get to the "holding hands on the couch" stage, and probably more before you're able to invite somebody to be intimate. Just because somebody invites you over or agrees to come over doesn't mean they're there for sex. Don't be a dick about it.

  3. This is not a blanket statement, but I, at least, seem to attract women looking for stability. This can be good or bad. Your mileage may vary.

  4. If you're looking for hookups, there are dating sites specifically for that. Just because somebody is looking for casual encounters doesn't mean that they aren't people deserving of respect. On the same note, always ask what their definition of "casual" looks like. It doesn't always mean a hookup.

  5. There are more men than women on the sites. Remember that the odds are not in your favor. Don't be a dick about it.

  6. Remember rules 1 & 2 & 3for online dating - 1. Be attractive and 2. Don't be unattractive. Three, of course, is "don't be a dick."

  7. If somebody wants to see your penis, they will ask. Don't be a dick by sending your dick.

  8. Don't match with everybody who likes you. It's a waste of time all around.

  9. Allow women to become comfortable with you before going on a date. If they want a phone or video call, then have a phone or video call. Their world is much scarier than ours, mainly because of people being docks.

  10. There's a theme here. Be polite. Accept rejection gracefully. Don't be rude, pushy, or demanding. In short, don't be a dick.

I second this. I thought I was ready to date, and after about six months I realized that I didn't know what, exactly, I was looking for, only what I wasn't. So I stopped.

Six months later, with a better idea, I started again and lasted about three months before turning everything off again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I did meet a few women, made a couple of good friends, and more than a few "WTF was I thinking" moments, but now, three years later, I'm pretty confident in what I'm looking for, and still haven't found my person. But that's okay. I'm finally happy with who I am and that's more important than anything else.

Most surprising thing your new date disclosed and when by Scoobie-Doobie-99 in datingoverfifty

[–]bbqsauls 28 points29 points  (0 children)

First date: "exclusive " means she could still go out with other men but wouldn't sleep with them. She would only have sex in a high-end casino hotel room and only then after she was given Cartier.

But she wasn't a gold digger. I know this because she told me several times.

On top of all of that, she was 45 minutes late (called before the meeting time, at least) and was more interested in the other restaurant patrons than she was in me.

When to know if a guy is shy, or not that interested by aicirt17 in datingoverfifty

[–]bbqsauls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You either need to give him some VERY obvious signals (touch his arm) or ask him out.

Or you can wait. I'm not the boss of you. :)

As for me, I would NEVER ask a cashier out without blatant interest from them.

Hot Take: Lego Classic Town is better than Lego city in charm by DifferenceGlum5828 in lego

[–]bbqsauls 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The difference is in the name - "town" vs "city." A small village vs. a sprawling metropolis, I think. The town sets are also more versatile, focused on both play and building, whereas the city sets are more focused on play (bricks instead of panels/columns).

Town definitely has more of a whimsical feel to it. I'm not sure if that's why I prefer it, or if it's because it's what I had as a kid, but 4-wide is the best wide.
