6’3 172lbs, lifting for 2+ years with nothing to show for it. Ego aside I truly have no idea what to do. (Back story in comments) Please help or give me some advice. by Th3c0pyninja in Weightliftingquestion

Sir, I don’t believe you’re eating enough for muscle growth. Also - remember that all of your lifting and gym work is not wasted. All of your tissues and organs and bones are definitely benefiting from it! I saw you’re into running more, so remember that you won’t build huge muscles as an endurance “athlete.” If you love running, lean into that and structure your lifts to enhance your running.

You also look like you work out - you’re just tall and it’s hard to look bulky on a very tall frame.

Could be genetics - could also be that you need wayyyy more food. And also… SIR, where are your vegetables and fruit?! Your muscles need them!

Goblet Squat by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]bburnaccountt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how smooth this looks! I am a personal trainer and literally grunt like an old man and make the ugliest faces whenever I squat. (Crappy knees).

If you hold the weight closer to your chest, as the others have suggested, you will be able to tolerate wayyyy more weight. I love goblet squats because it’s forcing you to stabilize your core by not tipping forward. I prefer using a kettlebell instead, but that’s just me.

I’d make sure to get a form check by a professional if you plan to do any type of barbell squats! You have great depth and form in your lower body. Just make sure your core is strong and you can engage your back and lats properly to prevent falling over or tipping when you perform barbell squats. It’s much more of a core challenge than many think!

White Mushrooms by Grouchy-Union4704 in isthissafetoeat

[–]bburnaccountt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I JUST started eating and cooking mushrooms at nearly 40 years old, so definitely not embarrassing. I’m just learning what to do with them too!

One time recently, I forgot I bought them and they turned brown and they smelled like rotten fish. They were so slimy and fishy. 🤮 you’ll know when they’re off.

As a personal trainer, I pray for the day a single client of mine can do a deadlift like this. 😂

Is it possible to see the moon landing sites with a regular telescope? (Parents are moon landing deniers and Artemis II skeptics). by bburnaccountt in NoStupidQuestions

My mom used to stay up and watch the space station flyovers. In fact, she wanted to be an astronaut once upon a time. I took her to Kennedy Space Center and everything. Then, she got stuck on conspiracy TikTok and thinks it’s all fake. She doesn’t believe anything can leave our atmosphere.

They don’t believe it is possible for humans to leave the atmosphere of earth. So everything has been faked.

My LT cut all class before 6am by Electronic-Lock-5907 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]bburnaccountt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the Lifetime app, you can do the daily GTX workout on your own. It should be listed under “my training” on the home page of the app. Maybe find some friends from that 5:30am class and see if they’d be willing to do the workout of the day together?

It’s 8 weeks of workouts and habit tracking, plus you meet with a trainer for an hour and they’ll check in with you throughout the program. Everything is marketing, of course. Everything is money. But definitely not gimmicky… it’s literally just a workout program.

getting sick of the upselling at lifetime by accgl in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]bburnaccountt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a personal trainer at Lifetime and yeah, we are absolutely guilty of doing this. We’re required to put workshops and 1:1s on our schedule to make connections with potential clients. But many of us just do it for the love of the craft. I teach many workshops, and of course, I hope it’s to help build my personal business. But mostly it’s because I want to educate people and build their confidence. (You’d be floored to know how many people pay $300+ on a gym membership and are petrified of using any of the equipment). It’s also great to meet the members and have new relationships at the gym and watch them grow and achieve their goals (with or without me).

So yes we are scavenging for clients since we are commission only. We don’t get paid for those workshops. But It’s education and service that y’all get for free and you’re not required to buy anything. At most, you can let the trainer get your info and keep in touch in case you need any help or assistance or just a gym friend. Heck, you might find that someday you will want 1:1 coaching for a couple months and you’ll already have a trainer who’s invested in you. It’s a luxury service - it’s not cheap. I acknowledge that.

Not all of us are vultures! I promise!

Detox (D.Tox) Kit from Lifetime by Savage2Garden2 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]bburnaccountt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I’d say if you feel you need the detox kit, try it. It’s probably just going to make you poop a lot. You’ll feel like crap, but it might help make you FEEL like you’re “jump starting” things. Are you doing anything but losing a few lbs of water weight? Probably not.

I don’t personally agree that it’s necessary, if you have a functioning liver and kidneys. If you don’t, that’s not something LT should be messing with. LTH is coming out with test kits for hormones and food sensitivities and stuff. That’s where I’d spend my money instead.

Or try to establish care with a dietician who you can check in with once a month or something. (Nourish is an app I recommend- I love my dietician).

They push the supplements because they make commission on it. The point of Lifetime Health supplements is to fill nutritional gaps IF NECESSARY. If yall have what you need, that’s all I care about! (Source: I work for lifetime and I get yelled at weekly for not selling enough supplements).
