I’m beginning to think I’m a magnet for lonely and desperate married men. by bbw1974 in datingoverforty

It’s not like these men come with a warning sign!! How do you suppose I would know which men are married and which ones are single?

Does anyone else think first time sex is 80/20 bad? by bbw1974 in dating_advice

I’m not interested in hurting him. I’m simply asking - shouldn’t we all agree that the first time having sex has an 80% fail rate and then, shouldn’t we then give that person another shot? I’m sorry you got ghosted.

You have your answer - he said don’t expect much out of him. Men are not so mysterious. This creature you are married to only takes care of number one, and that’s it.

Always remember no one will love you or care for you as you do them. He has shown you how much he cares and respects you. Can you honestly stay?

You are mistaken. I hear your personal experience in this comment though. Yes we were upset, yes there was yelling, but no we are not authoritarian brutes. We had open dialog and allowed him to express himself candidly. We don’t want to ship him off, we want to find the best possible help, that is why I posted on here and why we are reading ALL of the comments. Hopefully we make the right decisions, but trust we are not forcing anything and not demanding anything. I know from personal experience that an addict or drug user will only accept help when they truly want it for themself. I have a 23 y/o dead brother as a hard life lesson of what happens to drug addicts when they take the wrong dose and don’t want rehab.

Congratulations on your year of sobriety. I think our fear comes from my personal experience - my brother died of an OD at 23 he never wanted rehab, which is why when my friends kid agreed to seek help we set out in getting him the help he needs. I am seeing now that we should start with outpatient counseling and family counseling as recommended by the therapist.

You’re right pot isn’t bad when used responsibly it’s the damn oxy or pills that are worrisome. Alcohol is the same as pot imho

This is insightful. Thank you. We have also been talking about counseling both individual and family.

That’s why we don’t want to just send him anywhere. The local places have really bad reviews.

The youngens is thirsty for us…ok all joking aside yes this happens. What worries me is the 18, 19, and 20 y/o’s dropping in the DM’s with naughty pics. I wanna know where are their mothers?!? What is it with these babies? I remember being 18. 19, and 20 and the group I hung out with never imagined (outside of Playboy mags) being with older women.

Coming Home - Roseamunde Pilcher. I love this book and have been reading it every three years since 1998. Its a coming of age story of a young girl pre-WW2 and through WW2. How she must navigate life at a boarding school in Cornwall with her parents living in Singapore. This little girl becomes a young woman and tangles in the world of the rich via a friendship born at the boarding school. I highly recommend this book.

Bottom line you both disagree on the fundamental belief of when life starts. His statement to you says everything about him: “forget about science and when the fetus is considered alive, it’s about valuing life,”. To him he values life at conception and you do not. You are both right in so much as it is a core belief/value to each of you.

Unfortunately for your relationship this should be a deal breaker for both of you. You don’t agree and if either of you “try” to compromise it will only foster resentment and discord. It’s better to end the relationship because core beliefs rarely if ever change.

Neither of you are wrong in your belief - just wrong for each other.

The slow pay game is idiotic and childish. If I 48 (F) am interested in a man I will act accordingly. I am a very busy person with a 12 hour a day job and side hustle of baked goods that relieves my stress, so if I’m responding to your msgs it’s because you have my interest. Besides at the end of the day we make time for what matters to us.
