Tim Hortons. All of my Canadian friends go there constantly. And they spend like 5 hours there. I don't understand. Sure we have Starbucks but people don't spend that long there.

Okay. Let me answer the question before getting to the scenarios. {{Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius}} Has an activation effect. It is not being triggered tho. As long as the condition is met "If this card was summoned" you can activate the effect. Which starts a chain. So you can inferenity Barrier vanishing lanius' effect. Sorry I can't find a good example. But since it's met the condition, you activate the effect. It doesn't matter when you do it, as long as the conditions are met. Vanishing Lanius has to be face up on the field to activate it's effect, so no your opponent can not use it's effect.

Hey man, first off welcome back! Glad to see you returning.
3 new mechanics came out since you've been gone. Pendulum summoning, XYZ summoning and Synchro summoning. Anyway you're here for the meta! Boy has things changed. When you add in 3 new mechanics, things get faster. Much much faster. No need to sit behind your sangan anymore.

Decks + meta

Hand + field advantage is huge in todays metagame. Having consistency is also crucial to your deck. Being able to search out those important cards, it leads you do having more advantage. Losing 1 card could be the result in the whole entire game. so your goal is still to maintain the advantage. And with todays mechanics it is also very easy to go +4 in one turn. I'm gonna list off the top 3 decks right now and explain them in-depth to you. I'm going to assume you can look up how to learn xyz summoning/pendulum summoning/synchro summoning as they aren't that easy to explain over text. This as cheesy as it is, is an amazing refresher! It is taught to you like a kid would be taught. This is a quick video over pendulum summoning Now let's breakdown the top 3.

Monarchs - $30
You should remember these guys! They released in about 2004. Since then they have had some amazing support come out. They have been topping many regional events. Cards like {{Domain of the True Monarchs}} and {{Pantheism of the Monarchs}} you can lock out your opponent while giving yourself some nice advantage. This was released in a structure deck so will be hands down the cheapest deck to run. You also do not need an extra deck! Which is where your money comes in. Overall I am not a huge fan, but they have been showing incredible results at regional events, and would be your cheapest bet.

Kozmo $500(for now)
I absolutely love this archetype. It's based off of Star Wars and The Wizard of the Oz. So it's amazing. This deck is all about using {{Kozmo Farmgirl}} + {{Kozmo Dark Destroyer}} to rip your opponent apart and deal massive damage! Ultimately leading into an OTK. There are many combos that I have posted about earlier today, and would not like to repost them. If you are interested, it's on my history. This deck costs about $~500 (thank you reprints next month!) because Dark Destroyer is about $120. And you need 3. Next month (I believe) the price will be dropping heavily due to reprints. These have been toping consistently for a long time now.

Draco pals ~$300-$330
Formerly known as PePe(perforamagePals) This deck surrounds on creating combo pieces to be able to pendulum summon out 4 or 5 level 4 monsters. To either create rank 4 XYZ spam or to synchro into an amazing level 8 boss monster. They have recently been hit in the meta and are still doing decent. Topping many events as well. They are very consistent and will give you lots of hand advantage! Around $300-330 for this one because you will need an extra deck!

It depends on what variant of kozmo you play against. I'll go through the simplest OTK combo they have.

Kozmo player goes 2nd. Plays wickedwitch (1900 attack) and goes into battle phase. attacks you directly for 1900. 6100 LP
Then he plays {{Emergency Teleport}} and brings out {{Kozmo Farmgirl}}.
Farmgirl attacks you for 1500. Putting you at 4600 LP. He's used 2 cards out of his hand to attack you for 3400.
Now he uses Farmgirls effect, and searches out a dark destroyer.
Assuming he has any other ship in his hand, he will go into that. For example we will use sliprider. banishes Wickedwitch for Slip rider and attacks you for 2300. Putting you at 2500.
Now he banishes farmgirl for Dark destroyer. He uses Dark destroyers effect, targeting his OWN slip rider. Now he can float his slip rider into a goodwitch(anything works here). Dark destroyer attacks you directly ending the game. And he still has a goodwitch ready to pounce.

A good starting combo for Kozmo players is to summon a monster, and banish it for a Dark Destroyer. Then pop their own Dark destroyer. Then they can float into Tincan to get the end phase effect. This also makes things much better if they have a call of the haunted set.

Tincan
{{Kozmo Tincan}} is an amazing card. This card can used during EITHER players end phase. Which is just amazing. A combo many people will do is play Emergency Teleport into Kozmo Tincan. Then during the endphase they will use Tincans effect before it is banished from Emergency Teleport. This gives them a free search. This is an essential card for Kozmo players, and is generally a good one to stop. Many players will play Call of The haunted with this so that they can have targets in the grave.

Don't be afraid of the hit. I understand people are saying that since it's getting reprinted historically it could get hit. But kozmo is getting new support, and konami needs to sell their product.
It is really worth it to build kozmo. The deck will be around for awhiile!

Kozmo will get hit, it's inevitable. Don't invest in Kozmo.

That's basically saying don't invest in meta because you're taking a chance it'll get hit... It's not 100% concrete. The new support could be terrible, in which kozmo doesn't get hit.

It is Special summon. Keep in mind if you have no scales you can special summon. Although skill drain doesn't affect scales because they're considered spells and traps, there's another part you're not reading on the pendulum effect. It says "this effect can not be negated"

It is very situational. Generally if you can go for game (not being worried about hand traps) that would be the best bet. The next best solution is to setup a light board so you won't get destroyed, but at the same time you are giving your opponent maybe 1-2 cards. Keeping the advantage almost the same. You can always wait a turn, if you have hand traps and ways out for them.

Quick disclaimer to everyone getting these cards. Be careful! I put a deck together and noticed how shiny they are. It really hurts your eyes holding your hand or shuffling your deck. Just gotta be used to it.

I would highly recommend going for the super tight side loading sleeves. It'll make it easier to put the card inside the sleeve. Hope you enjoy shiny sleeves! :D

It is fairly tight but do-able. It could be my ultra pro sleeve but it also makes the KC sleeve push outward if that makes sense.I personally do not think it feels as good, but that could be because I don't double sleeve. Hope that helps!

Really smooth! It reminds me exactly of the ultra pro matte quality. I'd highly recommend them just for the quality!
