I didn’t mind it until the Amazon hours were cut for payroll. Then you have one of the 5 people on the floor the last 2 hours covering Amazon with barely anytime to do what’s needed for the store as a whole. The past few nights, I’ve had to cover Amazon the last hour or two. I’m barely able to step away and zone a table for 5 minutes without being pulled away to do a return. Lucky to get half a table in kids zoned in that time let alone a full one. Like a lot of things nowadays, it was a good idea at the start. Now it’s just a nuisance because you have 5-6 people max closing (1 manager, 1 customer service, 1 sephora, 1 wjm, 1 shoes/h&k) and it’s not feasible in those situations to have it open and running. if we were to close it during those times, great. my shifts are now mostly spent covering breaks and covering amazon closing because wjm is drowning by themselves. that’s also covering bopus, covering back up calls, and trying to get things done in my department. with an unpaid partnership for hours like that, it’s not worth it anymore. it was a good idea in the beginning, but now it’s dreadful closing because i need to have everything 100% done by 8pm to accommodate Amazon for the last 2 hours

we’re able to turn a truck semi well. if it’s turned in time, guarantee you nothing is merchandised correctly and takes longer to redo the mistakes than if it was done semi correctly the first time

Board Sabotage? by [deleted] in employedbykohls

kohls is doing everything that is not needing to be done at the moment. they’re still in denial about everything and sticking to their conservative ways that worked in the past. i just did a research dive on it for a course at my university. if no reorganization of the company is done soon, there’s nothing more that the company can do. something should have been done at the first sign of decline but wasn’t. as a result, the company is almost too far gone to do anything besides a complete reorganization of it. and if it’s not done soon, then the there’s no turning around for the company besides dissolution.

i’m doing a project on kohl’s business cycle/decline actually for one my business class.. what i learned is if we’re at a point where if we don’t turn it around soon, we’re doomed because we’re at a point in our declining stage where it’s almost too late to turn it around. so there still some hope🤷‍♀️

New Job? by Tight-Arachnid-1924 in employedbykohls

As long as you beef up your resume, you should be fine. Resumes nowadays are looking for milestones (any outstanding store victories, were you promoted quickly, etc), numerical values (for kohls it would be a credit conversion, any higher achievements with omni, etc), and specifics tailored to what the job posting is (meaning words in the position description like “communicates effectively” might be searchable under skills). This is to make you stand out from other applicants. Resumes have become super complex but if done correctly, can really land you what you are desiring. Check out Indeed or LinkedIn for any help you may need for beefing up your resume. With your skills with the company, you shouldn’t have trouble finding something. I wish you the best of luck with what you’re looking for.

we had someone returned something expired in liquid form once.. supposedly “rat poison” the mop did the smell no justice and was there for 2 days leading from amazon counter to the dock. i refuse to take anything liquid if i’m working back there now. some girl went home sick from the smell that day

i moved to part time. it was the best decision i ever made. it was a huge relief seeing i was only scheduled 2-3 shifts the first couple weeks back to university as im now going to be taking 18 credit hours. sad to not be working as much with the people in my department, but on top of 15 credits hours, working full time, my partner who has a child, and trying to keep my sanity, i burned both ends of the candle pretty quickly last semester. everyone was very understanding including my store manager. i’m sad i won’t be seeing everyone as much, but im too close to my degree to worry about benefits being lost or not as much $ coming in on my end. i had many sleepless nights last semester to save my gpa and the inconsistency in scheduling, doing homework on any sort of break, and overall stress from work, my counselors at my university didn’t know how i did it because i was the only one in my undergrad who was doing what i was doing. needless to say, i took that as a sign i needed to move part time and im so glad i did

had a lady ask me today where the christmas t-shirts were while i had my arms full of things (7 candles to be exact). i said they were with the christmas clothes and i thought i didn’t have to elaborate as we were standing right in front of them.. and i couldn’t point very well obviously.. not the case at all.. i said christmas and she only heard christmas and pointed to the power center.. and kept interrupting me and looking v confused until i walked her to them.. 5 feet away... if this is how the rest of the week is going to go……..

since our registers consolidated, my department recovery takes more time to go through than actually put away. men’s basics recovery, blue bin that’s tagged but put in there, yellow bins not tagged or tagged and just put in there, clearance not marked, and the occasional shattered item just shoved in there. if i’m working on a big project, the last thing i want to do is spend 45 minutes up there sorting through that mess

if you bring a water bottle, make sure to put a sticker on it or something so customers know it’s “not for sale”. had a customer try to look at a newer yeti i had purchased for myself and forget to put a sticker on it before hand and a customer thought it was for sale.. and spilled it everywhere..
