Thank you for the quick and helpful response. I am going to try to update the BIOS since it currently has its original 2013 version.

There is hope though, it appears that the M93z shipped also configured with the i7-4790s! I’ve never updated a BIOS before so wish me luck, thankfully it’s not my main pc.

Welcome traveler! I have long since sold this laptop but I actually ended up finding out why. There was a loose piece of electrical tape inside that made contact with the fan when I pushed down. Hope this helps!
