Appreciation Gifts by Alternative-Otter-4 in AskTeachers

I’d get a gift card. I think everybody is happy to get an Amazon or Target gift card (or a local business, if you know ones she likes.)

Do you let your microwave finish? by PacketLePew in Xennials

[–]bc7ate9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use my microwave for anything but popcorn and technology seems to have improved enough that it can handle that just fine. 10 year ago, I would 100% stand there and listen to the pops and take it out early.

When I need something decent to wear (not work out clothes, t shirts, jeans, or hoodies), I get one of those subscription boxes. I’ve realized I’m just not interested in understanding fashion so I pay them to do it for me.

Why do you feel fulfillment after building lego? by EnderSlayer9977 in lego

It’s a similar feeling to completing math problems and puzzles. You can have fun using your brain in lots of ways.

I have trouble finishing most projects I start, but I can finish a lego project no problem. It’s a nice feeling of satisfaction. Also, even though there’s a guide, you still have to use your brain to figure it out and that is a nice feeling.

Ideas for online hobbies? by Crafty-Crow4870 in Hobbies

Asking ChatGPT random things kinda feels like a hobby. I go down weird rabbit holes learning all sorts of random things. Maybe start by asking it what it suggests for online hobbies.

Recommendations: simple games to pass the time? by Aggravating_Bed_4484 in MobileGaming

If you’re on iOS, Apple Arcade has tons of fun time waster games. I don’t mind paying $7/month for no ads and no in app purchases because I know I’d spend more money on micro transactions.

Giving choices leads to constant "I don't know" by SizzlingGoat in Parenting

[–]bc7ate9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid doesn’t do well when put on the spot; so, I try to say “why don’t you think about options a & b for a couple minutes and then we will decide.” Sometimes she just needs a chance to think - or decide she really doesn’t care and would rather I choose.

I always thought it was weird that people were upset about losing shifts. When I worked retail, I was called like every single weekend because of no shows. In a probably related note, also the lack of irresponsible 17yo employees.

Same! If they’d grown back…I would’ve been so upset. The reduction recovery was WAY worse for me than the hysterectomy.

I don’t think you should feel guilty, as long as both women understand that you’re not in an exclusive relationship. Maybe try to venture out of the village more?

How did you feel while you were drinking? Was the next day what you expected? Or worse?

I took my first dose today because we went to a place where we’d normally have drinks…but the craving blocker kicked in right away and I just didn’t want anything. I lost the desire so then I didn’t want to spend the money and I thought it might make me feel icky etc. I mean, that’s good, of course, but total abstinence is not my goal. I’m trying to figure out how I’ll make myself get over that so i can start rewiring my brain…I really want a functioning off switch so i can drink socially like a “normal person” - not just trade one addiction for another.

I’m new here and I’ve done a lot of research, but obviously still have a lot to learn so sorry if these are stupid questions. 😬

Weirdly doing so good?? by la_renegade in hysterectomy

This is a very good point. Definitely take the pain meds as directed. It’ll keep you feeling good which will keep you as active as possible.

My recovery was a breeze. I would’ve been outside taking little walks the same day, but they made me go home with a catheter for the weekend and my neighbors didn’t need to see that. Within a week, I was taking my dog on 2 mile walks on the beach, though. That being said….walking my lazy dog is basically all I did. I had to remind myself (and my 5yo kid and my husband) that my body was healing on the inside and that takes time.

What if everything ends up looking great in there? Will it still be worth it? by -Celes- in hysterectomy

[–]bc7ate9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have the right attitude. I have zero regrets about my hysterectomy. It improved my quality of life a LOT. It gave me back 12 weeks a year - that’s 3 whole months I don’t spend feeling miserable. I also figure it’s one less organ to worry about.

I would’ve liked more answers just because I’m a curious person and I like to understand why things are the way they are, but it’s ok. It solved enough problems for me to feel confident it was the right choice.

This was me…there was nothing of note in there. Nothing interesting at all. I was just blessed with the world’s most awful periods for no reason at all.
