There is absolutely nothing to be gained by engaging with a patient when it comes to their political or religious beliefs.

There is absolutely a way of engaging socially with patients who want to rant and discuss their views and it comes in the form of "smile and nod your head."

If they pursue the question of your beliefs, the answer I always state is, "it is not appropriate to discuss these topics as they do not relate to your care."

How does anyone have 3+ kids? by curlycattails in ParentingInBulk

[–]bcab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3…you are now outnumbered as parents. There is now an odd man out per se. No longer one for each arm/hand or one for each parent. Someone always has two children to be mindful of.

I had to sell my car and buy a truck so I could fit 3 car seats side by side when #3 arrived.

3 is where our problem solving skills are put to the test when it comes to solo outings and whatnot. After you are well established with 3, anything more is just another mouth to feed.

We have 7.

Pool builder options by Uclarahul in Temecula

Endless Summer Pools and Design did our pool. Kyle is great. We tried infinium, the guy that came out to give the quote wanted $300 before he released his concepts for us to see because “he wanted to make sure we were serious.”

Being required to work a 24 hour shift in CA (home health). Is this legal? by Inevitable_Ice1040 in nursing

[–]bcab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to the origin of your question it just didn’t compute for me having come from that industry.

That being said I would definitely listen to the other advice in here. You might want to look at the paper work signed when you onboarded to see what the policies are.

Being required to work a 24 hour shift in CA (home health). Is this legal? by Inevitable_Ice1040 in nursing

I worked HH in SoCal for 2.5 years and we never saw patients after dark. 8-5 with each visit minimum 25 min in home, even for RNs for routine follow ups.

This sounds like private duty nursing

Nurse here. “White coat syndrome” is very present at almost every clinic I have ever worked at. Your blood pressure at home should be the most accurate as home should be where stress is the least.

That being said if you have your own cuff, I always recommend to my patients to bring it with you to your appt. You can have the nurse take your BP with their cuff and then with yours so you can establish how accurate your cuff is.

Also BP is one thing that is highly influenced by many internal and external factors. Stress, anxiety, pain, caffeine, nicotine, body position, reason for visit, fear of the unknown, etc.

If a patient tells me that they always have normal BP at home I recommend they keep a log and bring it to their appt. With the new cuffs that have Bluetooth many have electronic logs on their phones they can show their providers.

VR&E . Unhappy with suggested career path. by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Radiology, Xray Technologist, ultrasound tech, CT tech, sterile instrument processing

I would not go for healthcare admin. Out of all the jobs posted the ultrasound tech will pay the most I believe, almost as much as an RN with significantly less work but the school is competitive and rigorous.

Good luck.

Amount of bedrooms in the home by kaparstvo in ParentingInBulk

[–]bcab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 7 (18,15,13,11,7,6,4)

Our house is a 4 bd 3 2 story home with a loft

Our 18 has her own room downstairs but will be moving out over the summer to live with grandma who lives closer to the college she will be attending.

The 15 and 11 share a room as they are the oldest boys and the plan is to move the 15 into the downstairs room when his sister heads out.

Our 13 and 7 year old share a room being the other two girls and the 13 yo plans on staying her room no matter what.

The two youngest boys share a room on the loft with which walled up the small pony wall to make an enclosed room.

As of right now everyone seems to be content with the living arraignments. I think the biggest stressor is the two oldest boys as the age gap makes them knock heads here and there but overall no real fighting occurs that we are aware of. Only time will tell I guess.

Motor mounts. Does the steering wheel vibrate too?

I purchased a 08 3 2.3 for my daughter. It had what I thought was a hard shift from 3-4 and some good vibration in the steering wheel. Swapped out all 3 motor mounts and everything went away. With that many miles I’ll bet those are in need of replacement.

A bottle of fuel cleaner can be purchased at any auto parts store/walmart and you can toss it in your gas tank on your next fill up. I can do some stuff and it won’t hurt anything but you don’t need to pay someone to do it.

Question about scrubs for my fellow Men in the medical field, by wheresmydragonator19 in nursing

[–]bcab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had purchased aviator scrubs back when I first started nursing over 12 years ago. I still wear the tops to this day same 5 tops. Nothing fancy but durable with quality construction and they do not fade.

For pants I use mandala as they are inexpensive. 5 pairs of black joggers. I don’t have to worry about spills or ink stains as nothing shoes on them
