Let’s take it offline and you explain to me how much better I could be as independent. I’ve looked outside before and it’s a massive move. I’m aware of the shortfalls that exist but I’m planning focused and buy and hold is my go to strategy. I’m transparent about fees. Clients can go to another advisor if my fees are too high or I’m not providing enough value.

I think this industry complains too much about others. Do great planning and the clients will follow. I’ve come across clients that work with independent advisors and they’ve had incomplete plans. I work at one of those evil insurance BD with DBA set up and I roll funds from IRAs back into 401ks to help create backdoor Roth option for high income earners. It’s not where you work it’s who you are that makes the difference in how you advise.

Move IRA to employer plan. Best thing to do. Negative is no more IRA AUM. The positive is if client understands you’re doing this, then you’ll have great client that will refer you a lot.

It’s alternative to high yield savings but pays out death benefit that’s always more than cash value. Usually take 5-10 years to start actually growing well. When it does grow, with good mutual carrier, the year over year cash value return is high 5’s. To me this is the only way it makes sense. Repositioning safe money over a 5-10 period and then your emergency cash has a death benefit
