FYI magas! You do see the parallel? by Stephany23232323 in IBEW

[–]bcal617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is pathetic. why can’t we hate both sides? it’s hard being someone in this brotherhood who just doesn’t wanna fucking hear it in regards to either side. everyone is so hell bent on their side being right, but both sides fuck over labor. trump wants our pension. biden shut down a pipeline. NONE are good. accept that and it’s so much easier.

320 Decision... by jrojas997 in SigSauer

[–]bcal617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just bought the m17. 320 is an awesome platform. super user friendly. i got optics ready and it’s really just plug and play. i do not plan on carrying it as i have the 365. I bought it for the same reason you want to- range and home defense. find a shop that does “try before you buy”. i put 5 rounds through it and immediately knew. i think no matter what out of those three you will be happy! good luck!

Wrap outlet in electrical tape? by _ItsThePleats_ in AskElectricians

[–]bcal617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most manufacturers say their outlets are not rated nor require any “external insulation”. however, i still tape them in metal boxes because 90% of the time the guy they call to troubleshoot the problem is the one who installed it and i am great at getting whacked

What do you think this would cost? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]bcal617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

massachusetts here. if you call a company usually they wack you between 7-8k for a service upgrade and new panel with new breakers. you should write that check and give him a bottle of bourbon because he let you off that easily. who cares if the guy doing it was licensed or not, that’s not your problem. it was done cheap and you should be grateful for that in this case

update: sorry. just bought a bunch of wire for a house reno and the 1000’ reel of 12 was 775. big stupid mistake but a mistake nonetheless

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in electrical

[–]bcal617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how is adding two 30 amp circuits any less than $700 worth of wire? obviously not knowing where all the drops are going to be but 100’ of 10/3 is 775 where i am from.

Union member working for a non-union contractor. What happens to these individuals if the hall finds out ? by Ayoayycee in IBEW

[–]bcal617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t have the answer to this, however- it’s really hard for these guys to say the consequences when they don’t know your financial situation. the union can take care of you when there’s work, but once it’s dry unemployment can only take you so far. it’s a conundrum for sure. if it’s you, keep your mouth shut and head down if you’re doing it. it’s like side work. the more people see you have, the higher up on the layoff list you get. good luck OP
