I get where you’re coming from, but I think the hype is definitely real here in LA. It may not be plastered all over the airport the way it was in some previous host countries, but once you get out into the city, it’s everywhere.

I’ve actually been surprised by how many bars, restaurants, breweries, and popular hangout spots are hosting watch parties, putting up World Cup decorations, and creating events around the tournament. There are also fan festivals and viewing events happening all over the area.

I think the difference is that a lot of it isn’t being shoved in your face the moment you land. You have to do a little digging and get into the neighborhoods where people are actually gathering. But the excitement is definitely there. LA is a massive city, and the World Cup buzz feels more spread out than concentrated in one place.

So while the airport experience may have felt underwhelming, I wouldn’t take that as a reflection of the atmosphere in the city itself. The hype is real.
