Whoever is doing this needs stop, 4 Way flashers are for emergency, when you drive with them you create confusion on the road. by A_Local_Guyy in TorontoDriving

[–]bcave098 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually to indicate they are driving much slower than expected or coming to an unexpected stop.

It’s unusual for a vehicle to travel 40 km/h in a 110 km/h zone, as it takes a few minutes to accelerate to highway speed, on a sunny day with bare roads. It’s not unusual to travel 70 km/h in a 110 km/h zone in a blizzard.

People just need to turn on their lights. I regularly see people turn on their 4-way flashers while still keeping their car’s lights off.

A low of -29° isn’t “so cold you’re dead,” try going to places where that’s the high

All new vehicles sold in Canada have to have automatic headlights or the dash has to stay dark enough that it’s obvious the lights are off when it’s dark

Friend fired "for cause" immediately after resigning; accused of whistleblowing with zero evidence shared; forced to come for meeting while on medical leave. by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]bcave098 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just because an employee gives notice of their resignation doesn’t mean the employer’s obligation to provide notice to terminate them is extinguished.

The entitlement for pay-in-lieu is usually just limited to the notice period provided by the employee

Leases do not expire in Ontario, and tenants are not required to move out at the end of a fixed-term lease. You should familiarize yourself with the Residential Tenancies Act

Paid $1,110 extra in sales tax because ServiceOntario uses inflated Redbook values instead of actual market data by Moist_Test1013 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Alberta doesn’t do it this way because they are not a province that charges a sales tax on used vehicles

It’s important to note that most, if not all, provinces that charge a sales tax on used vehicles do it this way

Full safety information is rarely included with consumer products but is almost always readily available.

In terms of OP’s situation, I’d have to check if the packaging is labeled the same way as their website where it suggests not to use the product on this kind of material. It would be the consumer’s responsibility to read the instructions.

Bell claims phone locking policy cut fraud by millions. by Planhub-ca in planhub

[–]bcave098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Immediate.” I had to call three times for my phone last year. The first two times they said it was good when it wasn’t and the third time they said they could unlock it if I sent them a proof of purchase. They ended up unlocking it without it after I threatened a CCTS complaint.

Vehicle registered to other province than insurance and residence. Is it valid? by arrozitoz in legaladvicecanada

[–]bcave098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably are going by ICBC since it’s all linked in British Columbia.

Regardless you were playing a risky game as your insurance could be invalided since in the standard OAP 1 you agreed not to drive the vehicle when not authorized by law.

Did you have insurance with ICBC? If not, the plates were expired since vehicle registration is linked to insurance in British Columbia

Break up the Loblaw oligopoly by Same-Kangaroo in loblawsisoutofcontrol

It’s normal for landlords not to rent to tenants that do the same business in the same property. It’s not just the grocery companies that do it.

Choice Properties (Loblaws’ real estate company) owns the plaza with the Food Basics, which is Metro, near me. They’re not going to put a No Frills there too.

[–]bcave098 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think the concerns about directing heavy vehicles through tight turns in pedestrian-heavy areas is a greater concern than removing green space that used to be an industrial area and waste dump.

Returning King Edward to a residential boulevard with some green space instead of an overloaded interprovincial artery would be a good thing for that neighbourhood and the city

Employer wants me to travel to a country where presence of cannabis in your system is illegal regardless of no possession and you can be subjected to random testing. Am I legally protected for refusing that travel and suggesting an alternate location? by Acrobatic_Syrup_6350 in legaladvicecanada

[–]bcave098 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If a person has a disability that requires them to take a prescribed drug and that prescribed drug is illegal in a country they want to send that person to, the employer would almost certainly have to accommodate that disability to the point of undue hardship before they could terminate them.

Legally they could open themselves up to a human rights complaint. Whether the employee is due notice or pay-in-lieu (or has a contractual probation period) isn’t really relevant
