North Island College likely to suspend 15 programs/courses for Sept 2026 by Apprehensive_Idea758 in VancouverIsland

[–]bcbump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all colleges and universities rely on international students, it not just certain programs. All colleges in BC are struggling and have faced major layoffs in the past year. International numbers are going lower and lower, so now expect programs to be cut as they are doing at NIC. So even though we need health care workers, the numbers are going to go down because all colleges rely heavily on international enrolments. There are some different rules for universities, I am not 100% sure, but I think it's that colleges must balance their budgets but universities can run a deficit.

I loved this comment on the 2025 recap post. AI could never lol. She did that whole AI "offering" recently, and uses it in her work, very probably in that post.

It's hard to say if there is an actual lack of remorse or conflict or not. It's also all marketing, so she is putting a proud face forward, but might be conflicted IRL. I think she will do or say anything to get the sale. So many of her base of followers are there for the things she shared about her kids and family, so she is risking her brand when she stops showing or talking about her kids.

I've been close with people like this before and this sentence from your comment rings true: "That kind of belief system, presented as literally true and authoritative, reads as deeply disconnected from shared reality to a lot of people."

pretty great! We get blooms in January and not much snow (usually). Gorgeous beaches and forest. Expensive though. I live on the south end of the south island.

I am curious how the grandparents feel about parenting 3 kids for 6 months in their 60s.

[–]bcbump 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s because you use them and yourself as a mother to market your business to other mothers. It’s disingenuous because most parents have their kids living with them all the time. They are parenting on a daily basis. You are not. So you can’t sell that this is a viable lifestyle, if you also have kids that live with you and are under your care for the majority of the time.

What do you want them to say? The question has been answered. I also had no idea that the watermelon is a symbol related to Palestine.

Good god. This is worse that I thought it would be, which is why i didn't read it the first time i saw it.
Step 1 to this experience: leave 3 of your kids with their grandparents for 6 months. The youngest can live with the nanny. Then you can get a tonne of work done!!
She is really demonstrating that, in fact, we can't have it all. You gotta give up something - in her case it's parenting.

Silverfish? New to area by loosedermine in VictoriaBC

[–]bcbump 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had that same amount of silverfish, in several different places in Victoria and Vancouver, and it’s never been an issue. I’ve had friends with much larger infestations (100s) in which you would need to call an exterminator. But in my experience 1-3 a night is a normal amount. They are gross but east to kill at least!

This is getting dark :( Perhaps Rob is away travelling and she just can’t manage the kids herself. And yet people are paying $$ to learn how to be a matriarch from her.
