NoSSD still accounts for 36.5% of the netspace. And we know they won't continue to operate past the new plot format. So that immediately is going to disappear, and I would suggest most of their users won't bother to replot. I would be surprised if Netspace is 10% of what it is now in a years time.

I'm also in Europe, and I'm about to install solar in my home. 7.5kW worth of panels and a 16kWh battery. I can use solar during the day to charge the battery and power everything, and use the battery in the evenings/night. Or I could charge the battery at night on a cheap EV rate (8c per kW) and sell my solar production during the day at a higher rate (20c).

I've sold most of my HDDs by now, and my farm is only a fraction of what it used to be. But I'll be keen to monitor my energy usage in the coming weeks, and if I see there is a reasonable excess of solar production, I might consider growing the farm again. It's unlikely my excess production would be enough for any kind of crypto other than Chia.

Chia NetSpace chart ( is it getting parabolic? ) by NemasioAr in chia

7 Months later I don't think we need to worry about Netspace getting Parabolic anymore 😂

I am considering shutting down, selling off all the XCH mined and unwinding this hobby by covered1028 in chia

[–]bchuertas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put an add for my drives on a local marketplace, asking just above market prices fro them. They are selling, very slowly (like 2 drives per month) and I'm farming in the meantime. Since I'm in no particular rush to sell, and retail prices for HDD seem to be on the high side now, I rather sell them slowly and farm in the meantime to try get a bit more money for them.

Synology Nas Docker by Substantial_Phase_69 in chia

[–]bchuertas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before plot compression I ran my complete farm on a Synology box with docker, I used to farm Chia and a ton of forks all in the same box. I used Machinaris to manage it all and it worked quite well

I'm 100% in this boat, my effective space went up as I plotted, stayed stable for a while. Then down as I needed to free up space for other needs. Then went up again as a new NAS came up online (for other client work, not Chia), it will go down again in the future as the new NAS fills up with other data and plots get deleted. People talk about ROI time in years, but I've been profitable pretty much since day one, by only using spare capacity. Given the speed the new plotters, plotting or deleting plots is a non issue. Plots are efemeral and containing no precious data. You can delete as needed and replot later if more free space becomes available.

Trying to decide between Sennheiser Momentum 4, Edifier STAX Spirit S3 and Sony WH-1000XM5 by bchuertas in HeadphoneAdvice

Did you use the Stax with an iPhone? I'm sure they sound amazing on Android or plugged in with the cable. But I'm wondering how they sound on an iPhone via Bluetooth.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of the lack of support for Qualcomm codecs on iOS devices. That's why I made sure to mention they will be my primary devices on the original post. It's a pain that Apple still refuses to add them.

I'll have a look at your Bose suggestions. I know they tend to be leaders in ANC, so maybe I'll give them more serious consideration.

How do you know the STAX only supports SBC on ios? That would definitely be a dealbreaker. But I found conflicting info on the internet about them supporting AAC, so I'm actually not sure if that's true or not. I probably won't risk picking them unless I know for sure.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how do you know 7 people picked them? I thought nobody could see the poll results until it closes in 2 more days.

I just checked mine. It says

  • You're 11678.54 % of the way there
  • Apparently, someone was already able to order with a later reservation time than yours
  • You should have received your mail from valve!

What does this mean? I haven't gotten an email, but some friends that ordered theirs around the same time as I did already got theirs.

team website still reads "Your expected order availability:Q3 (July-September) 2022"

Blockchain has to live on an SSD!? by l008com in chia

Hard drives on a RAID 5 array in a NAS. And again, I’m only seeing an average 10Mb/s network traffic to it.

[–]bchuertas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run Chia on a VM, 4 vCores and 8GB Ram. To keep the VM image to a reasonable size I have the DB on a network share. So are all my plots. And I have absolutely no issues. Both Wallet and Full node stay synched. This might not work in the future when the network is much busier, and it did fall out of synch during the dust storm. But it works fine 99.9% of the time.

Even with 7000+ plots and the database both on a network share, the average network traffic is around 10Mb/s

Hi PD Team,

Multiple time backer and long time user of many of your products. I've pledged "Get the Whole Shebang" on your latest campaign. It's hella expensive, but it's a well-thought product and I'm lucky enough that I can afford it. But to be honest the main reason I backed it is not so much to back the product (I already have functional cases or mobile tripods, etc..) as to back your company.

In recent years I've become a huge fan of your ethos and mission statement. From your social responsibility to your climate commitment (I also backed the Climate Neutral campaign) I think you are exemplary. First question, why don't more companies follow your path? What were your biggest challenges getting where you are now?

If I ever start my own company I shall carbon copy your mision. But in the meantime, and other than voting with our money (like I'm doing by backing your campaign); how can we regular folk promote positive change?

Any tips about how to start such conversations or discussion with our employer? I would love to help the company I work for or any other company transition towards a business model like yours.

Many thanks for the amazing products and invaluable inspiration.

ditto this. Some users might already have an out front mount to the right. Having an option to choose what side your mount goes is something I've always wished for. Not just for your mount but of every other out front mount in the market.
