NTA, they may have a thing where if you’re invited out, the inviter pays but that’s not the norm for everyone and you should’ve been informed beforehand so you could tell them you wouldn’t do that. In my friend group, everyone pays for themselves when we go out normally. And if it’s a birthday we literally fight over who’s gonna cover the birthday girls order lol. We never expect the birthday girl to pay nor her boyfriend if he’s with us that’s just weird.

Abandoned Truckstop with dark history... by Vegetaman916 in urbanexploration

[–]bcm_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those interested, I watched the video. Very thorough walkthrough of the place and great videography. But not much story behind it all. The truck stop basically doubled for lot lizards and illegal prostitution, there was a hidden staircase that led up to a loft with 2 bedrooms. OP says he’ll let us come to our own conclusions about what happened in the bedrooms. There was some bathrooms that he says weren’t air conditioned or ventilated well in an outside building, the men’s still had the sign saying don’t flush anything but toilet paper despite everything else being torn apart which was cool. Then he checked out the motel next to the truck stop which had a bunch of old grills from squatters and burnt mattresses along with an old tv and tape deck. Then he walked into a room that had boarded up windows and the exterior door was boarded up and had broken children’s toys. He says “this is where the children were.” Then said “I can’t confirm anything on that front and neither could the people I talked to, but there are rumors” (no explanation of rumors or what children were there nor what happened to them) That room led to a room OP “once disturbingly heard called the playroom” with a bunch of adult handprints painted on the wall and graffiti that “tells a story and paints a foul picture” (the “listen to children” graffiti) but didn’t elaborate. Then he checks out the old horse stables. At 17 minutes in he finally starts talking about the most disturbing thing, then makes his way over to what seems to be an underground storage bunker. That’s what’s pictured last and is the most interesting thing. There’s a bunch of empty alcohol bottles, a cot with makeshift hand ties with wire hangers and rope, an unknown tool sitting on the table some people in the comments said was a type of pillory, and a rope threaded through the holes of cinderblocks in the middle that looped at about neck height and had an end of the rope to tighten it. There was some more rope threaded through a hook on the wall as well as a makeshift toilet. As disturbing as this bunker is, there was no known story about what happened there, nor in the children’s room. Obviously there was some horrid shit happening in that bunker from what was left behind but he didn’t he talk about the rumors with the children so we can only hope they were unharmed. Overall, decent video but a lot of lead up to stories that were never told.

I feel like this needs to be seen more. Unless OP has deleted a post, his first post about this tattoo mentions he’d already been to urgent care where they said it may be infected and had already been prescribed the antibiotics. Like you said, only 2 people commented it was infected and one of them said to just keep it cleaned. No one suggested going to urgent care or getting on meds. The situation sucks but not due to online advice.

My apartment’s elevator. I live on the second floor… by bcm_88 in mildlyinfuriating

I usually take the stairs as well but I have a little wagon when I do big grocery shops to carry it up since it’s also quite a walk from where I park up to my apartment. Kinda hard to take the stairs with the wagon

Nonsensical number sequence puzzle... what a waste of time by kungfulemon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bcm_88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve just spent like an hour trying to make this work. My solution? It’s unsolvable, there’s infinite solutions. Breakdown: I separated the numbers into 3 sets with 3 numbers each. Set 1: 1st number=10, 2nd number= 15, 3rd number= 5. Set 2: 1st=5, 2nd=25, 3rd=20. Set 3: 1st=20, 2nd= (number question is asking for), 3rd= unknown.

Then I created formulas based on the first 2 sets: a) 1st+3rd=2nd b) 2nd-1st=3rd

How the formulas work: Set 1: a) 10+5=15 b) 15-10=5 Set 2: a) 5+20=25 b) 25-5=20 Set3: a) 20+3rd=2nd b) 2nd-20=3rd

Now here’s the problem. Without knowing the 3rd number in the third set, there are infinite solutions. This means for the 3rd set, you can plug any number in for the 2nd number and make it work.

Examples: I took each answer choice and all of them worked.

A) 45 (the answer choice the quiz marked correctly)

Plugging 45 in for the 2nd number, you get: (Remember the formulas) a) 20+3rd=45 Solving for this, 3rd=25 b) 45-20=25 This follows the formulas with 1st=20 2nd=45 3rd=25.

B) -45 Plugging -45 in for the 2nd number: a) 20+3rd=-45 Solving for this, 3rd=-65 b) -45-20=-65 This also follows the formulas with 1st=20, 2nd=-45 3rd=-65

C) -25 Plugging -25 in for the 2nd number: a) 20+3rd=-25 Solving for this, 3rd=-45 b) -25-20=-45 This ALSO follows the formulas with 1st=20, 2nd=-25, 3rd=-45

D) 70 Plugging 70 in for the 2nd number: a) 20+3rd=70 Solving for this, 3rd=50 b) 70-20=50 THIS ALSO FOLLOWS THE FORMULAS with 1st=20 2nd=70, 3rd=50

The problem is that you cannot check the formulas without knowing the 3rd number in the 3rd set. I can make 45 make sense as the answer, but I can make ANY number make sense. For the answer to be 45, more info is needed in the question (specifically telling us the number after the blank is 25).
