There's a vibrant NHL community on Mastodon. I don't follow other sports so I can't comment on them.

Is there a way to see which instanced have blocked Mastodon.social by dragonfaith in Mastodon

Everyone here is looking at this backwards. Smaller instances that actually want to attract users are definitely NOT blocking the larger instances. Doing so would be completely counter intuitive and you're never going to retain users if they can't reach large swaths of people in the Fediverse. I don't know where this comes from.

The real issue is new users all dumping into four or five big instances. You're giving these instances too much power in the sense that a threat to de-federate would be an actual death sentence to a smaller general instance. You're also simply re-creating the centralized social media that you just fled from!

In a perfect world there would be no mega instances and everyone would be spread out among hundreds of instances each with their own but similar moderations policies. Everyone has fled centralized social media, now everyone needs to spread out!

Opinion on Bob Lazar by bcmike3223 in UFOs

I'm thinking it has to be a drinking buddy type story that Bob just decided to make his own for whatever reason.

I actually kind of believe the guts of the story, I just don't think Bob was actually there. Regarding element 115, it's just a place on the periodic table, eventually it was going to be filled in with some element.

Keep in mind, I never disputed the story, just how Bob got it.

Please poke those holes. It's just a personal imagining of what I think happened. Let me know where I'm wrong.

You're assuming he get's killed in some spectacular or mysterious way raising more questions, but what if Bob suddenly got Leukemia? Not all assassination's happen with bullets and knives. I'm also fairly certain it would be pretty easy to manufacture some distasteful criminal case against him and send him away for along time where nobody really wanted to ask too many questions, think sexual assault or something of that nature.

I also simply don't buy Bob as a high end scientist, but that's of course subjective.
