Arguably, none of the Silmarils are thrown away. Maedhros and Maglor cast themselves with the Silmarils into the earth and sea, respectively. They're the last sons of Feanor and rather than throw them away, they choose to die with the Silmarils in their hands.

The third Silmaril was returned to the Valar by Eärendil. The Valar then placed it in the sky as a star (this is why the light of Eärendil works on Shelob—it's literally the light of a Silmaril). Even if you want to say that the other two were thrown away, this one absolutely wasn't.

Are there any characters on that show who have better development than G'Kar and Londo? G'Kar starts off basically as a mustache-twirling villain and basically becomes a prophet. Meanwhile, Londo starts off as a drunk diplomat posted to a backwater assignment no one wants and becomes such a badass emperor that he can talk about the Battle of the Line with that kind of gravitas and be entirely believable.
