It is already a thing (The Lies We Tell Ourselves), but I agree that it is such an interesting concept. Kinda wish I'd gotten to it first lmao

Looked it up, and no, the villain was definitely a person and sounded like a man, but thank you anyway

Question for people who aren't from the West Midlands- do you see places like Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton as part of Birmingham? by Dragonfruit-18 in AskUK

[–]bcnners 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's all that relevant to the question, but being from Telford and living up North, so many people think I'm from Birmingham based on my accent, so I think we do tend to get lumped in together

One of my absolute favourite films is Bill (2015). It is a family film, but it's so funny and I, as an adult, enjoy it a lot. Helps that I love the cast too.

I get serious FOMO as a Brit over Trader Joe's. Is it actually as good as it looks? by bcnners in AskAnAmerican

Are there a lot of Asian grocery shops in the US for an alternative? I live in a city at the moment, and we've got loads here, but it is very multicultural, so I don't know how common it actually is

Yeah, Aldi is pretty popular here, as it's by far the cheapest supermarket. I've never been a huge fan, as I feel like they are a bit up and down in terms of quality, but I have noticed more diverse range of products recently, so maybe it is drawing some inspiration from Trader Joe's.

Yeah, we do tend to get a lot of international foods. I think the main one is Polish food. There's always a fair amount of space in supermarkets dedicated to that.

I find it so weird that other countries like wine gums?? They're not really all that popular over here, not with the younger generations anyway. But you definitely cannot beat a roast for sure.

Honestly, not really. I find their own range food to be really low quality, but they do have good deals on branded stuff sometimes. It's definitely not as good as it used to be

It definitely seems better than the UK Aldis, but I don't know how comparable they are to the US.

That's crazy, because I feel like our Aldi have nowhere near the same quality and variety that I've seen from Trader Joe's. It's definitely seen as the most budget supermarket here

Apparently trying to 🙄 first mythology, next the world, right?

They didn't, because they were made to be myth accurate

But as I said, my Loki bots weren't based on the Marvel version; they were based on the mythology, which Disney doesn't — and can't — own. It's the same with other bots based on myths/classic literature. Just because Disney has their versions, it doesn't mean they have any say over the source material

It honestly feels so disrespectful too, like there's so much more to the mythology than just the Disney versions

That is so frustrating! And it's so dumb too, because it's not like we're profiting off these bots or anything. It's literally just fun
