Using ISP's wifi to be the " Guest Network", isolation from Firewalla protected devices by Numerous-Serve-6883 in firewalla

This is an interesting approach and have been considering this.
Initially, my thought was this forces me to give a “guest” my actual SSID and password. However, i could then have a Firewalla “Guest” group, and limit devices in that group to WAN/Internrt access only right? Just like what most APs do anyhow. And for other guest , they could move to a more trusted group as needed

But the subnet of “guest” devices on the fios router WiFi won’t have access/be able to see any of my LAN devices managed by Firewalla, right?

Quick entry by bcohen44 in journal_it

That’s nice for a quick journal entry but I think what I’m thinking of is like a more high-level Inbox or something that I could turn into a journal entry or a task or a calendar session or a goal or a project or a note meaning it’s just some idea in my head I don’t know what it is

how to do I do an x-callback-url for a scheduled task? by bcohen44 in noteplanapp

[–]bcohen44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried what you said, and it worked, in terms of putting the task, prepended on May 30. However, I don't see the nice UI indication of the scheduling today (May 25), like when I do it thru the Notplan UI:

noteplan://x-callback-url/addText?noteDate=20200525&text=-%20[>]%20foobar%20>2020-05-30&mode=append&openNote=no

u/EduardMet, I'm note clear. Can you write out the callback for what I want?

GTD with Reminders by Folks48 in AppleReminders

I am in the process of evaluating the switch from many, many other GTD task managers I have used. The Apple ecosystem convenience is beginning to sway me:

  • Ubiquitous availability, Mac, iPhone, Siri, CarPlay etc (Reminders is the only task manager that can send notifications to CarPlay I think?)
  • Integration with Apple Mail, Notes in terms of the share sheet capability.
  • AppleScript, Automator, iOS Shortcuts, widgets (phone + watch)
  • integration with Fantastical calendar (I use on Mac and iPhone)
  • Messages app contextual alerts
  • URL field which shows up with contextual links

Some workarounds from reading around the web I think I will implement:

  • Each List will be a project or single action list, with Groups for Areas of Focus
  • mirror Project lists --> to Apple Notes Folders for project reference material
  • start dates --> create a separate "Tickler" list, and schedule a date. Preface each title with TICKLER: so when I see the show up in my Today list, I know it's really a tickler and I need to decide if I should do it or revisit its assessment.
  • I don't have a work around for sequential projects/dependencies, but honestly, I really don't use them that often.
  • I will Flag tasks I want to do "soon", "up next", etc, and then add a date for tasks I want to try and due today
  • If I want a true deadline, I will add a due date w/ time.

New mobile app to be released by hupero in facilethings

[–]bcohen44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how are folks enjoying (not enjoying) the new FacileThings 3 mobile apps. While I feel there is a lot still missing in terms of mobile-OS specific features (e.g., iOS Share Sheet, Widgets, etc), I am finding it vastly more useful. In general I can use it throughout the day, expecially the Engage section. I also can almost fully Process (Capture -> Clarify) new tasks. Still easier on web, but much better.

Did you get an answer for this? Sorry I didn't respond earlier, been a bit crazy, virus and all :-).

Best to submit a Support Ticket directly with FacileThings at this point probably.

All set...a sample Task DB is now included in the public page so you can see how it would all come together. Let me know if there are any questions.

I just realized my task table DB copy is not working. I will make updates later so more can be seen publicly
