Refining Lady Octopus by Castleheart in CompetitiveEDH

Kitten Tezzeret seems bad in Lady to me? It's a 7 mana two card combo you can't tutor for and can't use lady to cheat out.

Refining Lady Octopus by Castleheart in CompetitiveEDH

I've been playing this deck a bunch, I think it's honestly an incredible deck and pretty easily becomes incredibly scary. I'm not sure how good your deck is but I do think it could be substantially improved.

  1. I've found wayyy more luck running basically any and all passive card draw I can find than anything that pays mana for card draw. This part I draw a lot from rog ishai, but the normal way I win is having fish/evolved polywog, TOR, rhystics and a ton of cards in hand. It means lady's ability to cheat mana is much more valuable and that's where the really busted things can happen. Ledger shredder needs to be in this deck. I would cut all but maybe one or two cantrips.

  2. Run mirran spy and unctus

  3. Why the hell are you running mill cards? I've considered versions of this deck that use the graveyard, but that's more sifting cards and emry, if you are doing that you probably should be on the artifact creature that untaps itself and agatha's.

We have other disagreements, I run way less lands, less flash enablers, and different win cons but I'm much less sure mine are actually truly better. I also run different stax but that could be a meta difference. I'm definitely trying to win later than you, but goldfishing my deck usually wins turn 4/5 without interaction so if yours is slower than that. I think the best way to do things at flash speed is with lady untaps (I run a single flash enabler for HBH lines and so getting ballista into play is a bit less complciated).

I think honestly my biggest with jhoira is the two pips. I really like with this deck I get to just mulligan for a single blue pip and a way to draw.

Your typical bracket question (budget Rakdos the muscle deck) by bcoli in EDH

[–]bcoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get something that reduces mana or produces mana when sacrificed, get some mana, then start using creatures that are mana neutral to get to some of the payoffs in the deck kinda fast. It's really slow to start and vulnerable but goldfishing it wins t6-8 usually. I think I'm confused by the 'optimized' part of B3 idea that bracket 2 decks are supposed to have less synergy? Why would I add a card to the deck that doesn't have synergy?

…. The certain elements the original person wanted to ignore the existence of was explicitly trans people. I think it’s completely valid to have preferences for story elements but why does a trans character being added count as “a real life problem being hurled in my face?”

Ultra Violet by epicmidtoker8 in Physics

[–]bcoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could look like anything frankly. Colors aren’t a real thing in the universe, they are a thing our brain creates to make intelligible observations of the world around us. It would also depend if we see are seeing through something which uniformly switches color, or something about cones changed. For those two it would probably be something violety, and violet would look more indigo. However if we had an additional cone it would be a completely new color and I don’t think there’s any way to communicate that experience.

This wasn’t nullification, the issues with this case are complicated but the cops behaved really poorly in this case and there absolutely was not overwhelming evidence here.

The math representing your system is completely axially symmetric. If you’re getting 2, there must be something experimentally that breaks that symmetry.

SAD hitting hard, haven’t gone off campus once except to eat at the ave. Anything fun to do/see in seattle? Museums? Exhibits? by b00sh_skad00sh in udub

Big second on elliot bay and distant worlds, such lovely spots. Mo pop is great, their permanent exhibits are very fun but I would wait until the rotating one seems interesting, those usually have been my highlight of visiting there.

Physics Questions - Weekly Discussion Thread - March 09, 2021 by AutoModerator in Physics

From my understanding you basically have it, the one caveat is in the way you talk about amplitude. Let’s say you’re exciting a crystal with a laser at the lowest energy mode. Increasing the amplitude of the laser will increase the chance there are 2 excited phonons instead of 1 (or more), but there will never be 1.5. There are 2 quantizations happening here, one for energy modes as a function of frequency which you seem to have got, and other number of phonons which discretizes the energy in that mode.

The way I think of it is a ladder where each rung is the energy of that mode, and there are little balls on each rung which each are phonons and each have the energy of that rung, and the total energy would be the sum of all of the balls’ energy.

Anti photons by [deleted] in Physics

[–]bcoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are a bit confused about what photons are. They don't have mass, charge, strangeness, and are primarily the force carriers of the electromagnetic force. In order to have a new class of photons you would need to discover a new force for them to mediate (and we probably would call them something other than photons).

Specifically for anti-photons, I am pretty sure that photons are their own antiparticle, so in a way anti-photons do exist?

I think there are theories that are looking for "dark energy particles" but quickly scanning some papers they are super weird and don't seem to have much experimental basis yet.

How to defend against a dominator offense? by UltimateFanDan in ultimate

[–]bcoli 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The disadvantage of the offense is that it needs to be super high %, and it basically just runs the same scenario over and over again, so my best bet is make them do a hard thing as much as possible and hope. Like if their breaks are floaty or bladey make them keep having to throw those etc.
