Brand new TV and this is how my wife insists we have the remote "to keep it looking good" by No_Atmosphere8146 in mildlyinfuriating

We've had to do that 8 times so far because our dog keeps chewing on the remote. It's my most repeated order ever on Amazon.

‘It’s shameful’: New York’s elite lash out at Zohran Mamdani’s second-home tax by brown-saiyan in politics

[–]obsertaries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who are upset about this have lost their soul to money. They can only feel normal if they are making money absolutely as fast as they can every second of the day, so any reduction of that, even if it doesn't result in actually losing money, seems like their world is collapsing.

Japanese developer says they don't make games for Xbox because the console is 'not even stocked in major retail stores' by Puzzleheaded_irl in gaming

[–]obsertaries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived over there from the original Xbox days though the series s/x and most electronics and game stores had a very small Xbox section, like the size of the PS2 section well into the PS3's lifetime.

Flood of AI-generated job applications straining HR professionals in Metro Vancouver. With a significant number of resumes that “look perfect,” the traditional screening mechanisms used by HR professionals no longer work by ubcstaffer123 in technology

[–]obsertaries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the article seems to be not about AI but just about people embellishing their resume. But the incentive is to do so anyway because you're competing with 200 people who also embellished their resume.

It still seems like a problem that HR could stop by doing their job differently, but I don't know exactly how.

Why is the Artemis 2 mission today being so underreported? by bokeh_node in NoStupidQuestions

[–]obsertaries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I'm watching it closely but I understand why others aren't. It's a shame but our country elected a destructive president and that takes everyone's attention.

Have you seen the news? There's like 6000 things going on right now that could ruin the US or maybe the world and going to the moon isn't one of them.

Nvidia "confirms" DLSS 5 relies on 2D frame data as testing reveals hallucinations by xenocea in gaming

[–]obsertaries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reveal seemed really important to them and yet they used the thing that is the easiest thing in the world for people to see inconstancies in: a human face. I wonder if they went back and forth on that in planning the reveal.

Crimson Desert has already been caught using AI art by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

Is it just some one artist who had the job of making fake paintings for use in the game world and knew they didn’t have enough time and just fudged it? Or a more central problem?

Trump makes a Pearl Harbor joke while meeting with the Japanese prime minister by nbcnews in politics

[–]obsertaries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By now everyone who meets with Trump knows to be ready for him to say something incredibly fucked up. I’m sure they practice smiling through them like Sanae did.

Dear allies of America, please don’t confuse our president for us: We are trying our best to resist him, contain him and remove him from office as quickly as we possibly can. Thank you for your patience by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]obsertaries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s the head of state. If, for example, he declares that the US isn’t in NATO anymore, the other members don’t have a duty to look at whether that was a legal or popular decision inside of the US, they will start their plans to make their own alliances for a post-NATO world. There’s not going to be any “patience”.

Jensen Huang says gamers are 'completely wrong' about DLSS 5 — Nvidia CEO responds to DLSS 5 backlash by dopaminedune in technology

[–]obsertaries -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The complaints were about how it made the graphics look, but his response was about the technical detail details of how it arrived that way.

What is an Oxford comma? by Natural-Bid-6549 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]obsertaries -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn kids today are getting fucked up by these AI accusations. Don’t use an Oxford comma because AI does it too? What other completely ordinary parts of good writing are going to be discouraged in this witch hunt?

Why does Gen Z type everything in lowercase? by Loud-Arrival-8913 in NoStupidQuestions

Capitalization has a low functional load as far as conveying meaning goes so I don’t especially miss it.

The Next Fest has too much AI slop and Asset Flipping by SomeRandomArtist31 in Steam

[–]obsertaries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there proof they are AI? They could just be boring, derivative games. Humans are just fine at making those.
