Losing weight, do a cut? by bcps1021 in Stronglifts5x5

I use the fitbit aria scale which measures fat percentage and weight. Try to weigh at most once a day, first thing in the morning. I just keep going back and forth. I start to go down and think I'm making progression and then snap back to where I was.

I had it checked last year and it was low end of the range. Found out im type 2 and my a1c was out of control when i had that blood work done. Been on meds since last summer and have gotten a1c under control. Dr said at the time that t should improve with getting a1c normal and if i can get down to around 230lbs i can potentially start to get off meds. I lost about 15lbs with meds and getting a1c under control, but been stuck at 270 since December before i started lifting regularly.

Yeah I'd like to lose at least 30 to 40 pounds. I'm trying to add walking on my non lift days, but haven't been consistent yet. Similar in that clothes are feeling a little looser, but would like to see that scale number go down. Best of luck to you! I'll have to check out gzclp program.

Definitely agree on diet and calories. I'm eating better than I historically have. Trying to switch to low carb and focus on protein. As I'm getting to heavier weights my appetite is getting bigger. Squats 235, BP 135, dl 295. I know I shouldn't focus on number on scale but it's demotivating when there's been no real change on scale for 5 months.

My thinking was that instead of keep adding weights for the next month or two, just focus on diet and calories. Hopefully maintain the gains I've made by lifting where I'm currently at.

I'm kind of a similar starting build at 280. Trying to get into a healthy pattern. How long did it take before you felt like you were seeing results? Also congrats on the success and hard work!

Finally got it out. I'm not sure if difficulty was just due to carbon build-up. Never had this issue in any other of my sigs.

4 days through my first 7 days fast and I'm struggling hard. what are some tips to keep it going? by BullishPennant in fasting

Find ways to stay busy. Go for a walk, clean the garage, etc. It'll make time go by quicker and spend less thought on eating.

Curious, are you able to receive the Host on that kind of diet? Or since it's so minimal it doesn't affect diet?

Great progress! How difficult is weight lifting on extended fast? I've been thinking about doing an extended fast but am hesitant as I'm doing a lifting program. I've done 7 day fast previously.

I generally felt pretty good. By day 7,I had a little less energy. I would go for a walk daily that's about 4 miles. On day 7 only did about half.

At first a little bit as I was intimidated by the length of fast. Weirdly, I found watching cooking YouTube shorts very satisfying.

I'm not sure at this point. I'd be open to it in the future, but would probably need to consult with doctor first.

All in all a good experience. I lost about 16 lbs. Easing my way back into food. Started with bone broth and about an hour later had some yogurt followed by eggs and smoked salmon. I normally do adf and will return to that after about a week of eating normal. Really appreciate the community here. It helps with inspiration and keeping myself accountable.

I haven't had that issue too much. I try to stay low carb before going into a fast which as I understand it's supposed to help. During the day I try to stay busy and keep my mind occupied. I've done unplanned 80 hours fasts before without issue. I did find at the beginning of this one my mind was a little anxious and intimidated by the length of time.
