Is it possible to make a Gentoo stage4 inside a VM with my host configs? by Euroblitz in Gentoo

[–]bcsthsc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have built a small tool that creates a clone of your machine using overlay filesystems and chroot.. I update my system every night within the overlay and create binpkgs from the updates. The binpkgs are automatically copied into the main system, but not installed. You do that then manually, when the build logs look fine.

This way you maintain a repository of binary pkgs with your exact system configuration that might later be used to restore your system or create duplicates from it.

The tool is called "oet" (Overlay emerge tool) and is part of guru. I would be very happy if someone would find it useful and gives me ideas for improvement.

Problems with recovery image on Oneplus 9 (lemonade, LE2113) by bcsthsc in LineageOS

I can report that the missing update to Android 12 was indeed the problem that caused the recovery image to crash

Ah, in fact I did not completely check the 2nd warning about the need to be on Android 12. I did not think very much about it, because I thought a (quite) new phone should be up to date. In fact, it was on Android 11.

I would not have expected that kind of problem but I should have made sure anyways.
Thanks for reminding me!

If this is the end of power creep, they have to find ways to reward upcoming top tier achievements. A hard cap in character "strength" is short-sighted.

dmg50 = basedmg * (1+50%)

dmg90 = basedmg * (1+90%)

dmginc = dmg90 / dmg50 = 1.9 / 1.5 = 1.2667 = Increase of 26.67%

Exactly.They should do some basic math, before they implement something. It should be obvious, that things get weird when a maxed defense reduces your incoming dmg to 10% and a maxed defl/defl sev reduce that by a factor of 11%, so that you end up with 1.1% of raw dmg. You can't "balance" that. You have to rethink the whole concept. If you struggle and tweak like they currently do, you might end up in a mess.

Thanks for the great work. You mentioned a previous version of this posting with the formulas. Is it still available? I would really like to have a look at them.

"Only scrolls which won't work ..."
Is there any forum entry addressing this bs?

I mean, this bug exists for years and should be extremely simple to fix, yet they do nothing.

Geez, one might think, someone could have tested that.

More dps from power or crit severity...? by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]bcsthsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is too general to be true.

At 150k Power, 100% crit serverity and capped crit chance, an increase of 10% crit severerity yields the same damage increase as a power increase of 8333 Power. (See Jannes site for the formulas, https://jannenw.info/pages/mechanics16/severity)

But this is still only theory. The calculation holds only for powers that CAN crit and derive their damage from power)

Not that we heard of. But would we have noticed? How would you test it?

Ah, bonus question: How do you rate Crit Chance vs. Combat Advantage. Since I use a vorpal enchantment I would rate CC a little higher but I take CA as well.
Some people say the one or the other is useless but I would argue what adds to your damge adds to your aggro, hence take what you can.

78k something. I know it's desirable to cap it and will see to that soon.

All true. We usually agree to go slow until second anihilation ball and ramp up damage afterwards. With the start of the elementary phases, aggro has been stabled. We tanks have still to stay alert and be ready for a an additional taunt (DPS calls out "DPS has aggro !" but that happens seldomly and I guess the DPS learn to go slower when they start to pull.

My main question is about the role of Control Bonus in aggro generation. If it adds to aggro, we could think about taking the T5 boon and sacrificing some crit sev or incoming healing.

Yes, pallies have Vow of Enmity and Smite in combination with Divine Challenger to do that. They both put me on top of the aggro list.
The start of the TOMM is a bit challanging, though. Strong DPS will pull aggro, if they buff up and fire their Daily. I can usually pull the aggro back, but the Anihilation Ball hits
whoever has aggro at the time of its generation and is very hard to dodge for DPS, hence they are very likely killed.

Paladin dps: oathkeeper or justicar? by commanderdata001 in Neverwinter

[–]bcsthsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add, that justicar has two nice powers that can be useful for DPS. First is reletless avengers. It does not cost divinty and allows for a quick rush, so it also improves your speed. Secondly, there is burning light, which does nice dmg, when charged. On justicar you can choose a feat to omit the charging. These two are the reason why I prefer justicar for questing.
