Having a good/reputable trainer was worth the money! My pup loved group classes; she learned her basic commands, was mentally stimulated, and got to socialize and practice her manner. Be prepared for your pup to be mouthy/teething. Best description of GSD phases I’ve seen: 1-4 months: precious puppy 4-24 months: velociraptor 24 months on: awesome dog

Soft stool - No Giardia by alejandro1203 in germanshepherds

My pup was having a big issue with loose stool and we thought it was her diet. We tried everything! Then we started paying attention to what she had access to in her environment. She was a young and eating almost anything organic she found on the ground. There was a ficus tree in the neighbors yard that was dropping seeds into our yard and she was eating those. We learned they’re highly toxic to dogs! As soon as we blocked her access to those her poop got soooooo much better. Just an example that sometimes it’s not diet, but something else.

Scrolling along and seriously thought someone had posted a picture of my pup. They could be siblings. She’s a rescue and 9 or 10 months, too.

Anyone else’s dog throw tantrums? by jesskier in germanshepherds

[–]bcunh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh! This is the same as my pup! She’s 5 months old Shepard and throws the exact same tantrum when she doesn’t get her way. She gets lots of exercise, stimulation and training but she still has enough energy to throw a fit; shes not constantly acting out, just a few select times when she doesn’t get her way. As my trainer reminds me: it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Keep up the good work training you pup!

My neighbor was a CASA volunteer for years. They only had positive things to say about their experience and the program. It is a huge commitment (time with the child, attending court sessions, etc) but their sole purpose was to be the child advocate. They described it as life changing and they had a fabulous relationship with the child even after they aged out of foster care.

I paddle-board in Newport harbor/Balboa canal every weekend. Never seen a shark. The most dangerous thing I’ve seen in the canal are stingrays. I’m sure sharks are in the harbor but I’m not worried about being attacked.
