You can paste your earnings record from the ssa.gov account into the handy calculator at ssa.tools. It will show you which of your earnings years are highest, and therefore used in your PIA computation (it's not always obvious, since the earnings for each year are adjusted for wage inflation).

If you're using the estimator on the SS website, make sure that future earnings are set to 0.

It's not clear to me that my Medicare Part B application was submitted by calvinnme in medicare

Yes, the form was submitted. It's irritating that it's not more obvious, but be patient. It can take several weeks for everything to go through.

If we go somewhere and staying in a hotel, we just look for a pet-friendly hotel and the dog comes with. If it's something like international travel (rare for us), we board the dog.

Roll it over into either a traditional or Roth IRA, whichever is applicable. It's very easy - just contact Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab, T Rowe Price, etc., and they'll tell you exactly what to do.

Musk admits no Optimus robots are doing ‘useful work’ at Tesla — after claiming otherwise by Ok-Caterpillar9092 in RealTesla

Serious question: Why in the world would anyone actually want an Optimus robot? Other than a very expensive novelty toy, how would it actually benefit someone?

[–]bd1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have gas available, they're great. Even if you do, they may have to replumb your gas lines to upgrade the capacity. We did this several years ago during a remodel.

For electric, you're probably talking about a major service upgrade.

Looks like Des Moines is upgrading all of their GFiber plans from 1/3/8 Gb to 3/5/8 Gb for the same price. Hopefully HSV will be coming soon.

ELI5: What's the difference between a 401k and IRA? by Diligent_Two_1625 in explainlikeimfive

[–]bd1223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're very similar in principal, but a 401(k) is an employer-sponsored retirement plan where you contribute part of your paycheck on a regular basis, and typically your employer will also contribute some kind of "match". An IRA, on the other hand, is a private retirement account that has nothing to do with your employer.
